El Fenn Hotel captivates guests with its impeccable cleanliness and stylish atmosphere, creating an inviting retreat with its unique Moroccan elegance. Nestled on the edge of the Medina, its prime location offers unparalleled access to local attractions, earning high praise from visitors.
The rooms stand out for their distinctive design and comfort, though some travelers suggest the hotel's value doesn't quite match up with its service levels. Despite occasional service hiccups, the professional staff and well-regarded amenities, including the rooftop bar, contribute to the hotel's charm.

This is a tardy review, but I haven’t stopped thinking about how lucky I was to visit El Fenn right before Covid changed the world. I visited El Fenn as part of a girls trip, and stayed for five nights.
My room was absolutely beautiful: stylish furniture, enormous marble bathtub, great light fixtures. One thing I loved was the amount and variety of tea selections that are available in the room. Filtered water was refreshed each day.
The rooftop bar and restaurant was definitely a highlight of the trip. We had breakfast there each day (the shakshuka was sooo good), drinks every night, and a couple of dinners. Loved all of it, especially sunsets and hearing the call to prayer.
Besides taking advantage of the hammam at La Mamounia, we did as well at El Fenn. While the space was small and cozy, the service was great.
Overall, the service at El Fenn was perfect for me. It wasn’t overbearing, but instead was always super helpful whenever I requested anything from help with transportation or restaurant reservations. I can’t wait to return!

We're so pleased that you have such happy memories of a trip before the pandemic! It sounds like you had a great experience with us and we really do hope to see you again the future. We're open for business now and, while it's understandadly quieter than normal for now, we can't wait to see familiar faces back here again. For now, we wish you and yours well.

Didn’t stay at the hotel however went to the roof top restaurant and wow it was a real delight! The hotel is beautifully decorated and a true riad. The food and service was top class with a light healthy fixed menu at a reasonable price. Drinks are also cold. If back in Marrakech we will deff come here again

The only problem with El Fenn is that it is really hard when you have to leave.
We absolutely love this incredible place. We've checked all of bedrooms out over the years and every single one is magnificent. Spacious and incredibly comfortable, they're also stunningly stylish. You just come home and want to redecorate everywhere! (Apparently tadelak walls are really hard to get done in the UK).
There are so many beautiful spaces around the many courtyards and on the huge roof terraces to relax, to swim, to read, listen to the birds and the call to prayer... There is an atmosphere of calm and comfort that has worked it's way into every corner and it is impossible not to be enchanted by it. Shoulders drop, breathing slows and you instantly find yourself relaxing.
The roof top bar and restaurant are the best places in the whole of Marrakech to enjoy a sundowner or a gorgeously-prepared meal and the service is charming.
Can't wait to go back again!

El Fenn never disappoints! The location of the hotel, unique design, stunning decor and superb hospitality put this gorgeous “oasis” in a class of its own .I visited last April and was yet again impressed by the exceptional and faultless service . From the moment the door opens, everything is perfect and no detail is left unattended. With very HUGE thanks to Belaid Oubrik and the team for going out of their way to make sure every request was met and for making my 1 week stay truly wonderful. I highly recommend El Fenn for a luxury “home away from home “ experience .The rooftop views of the Koutobia ( especially at sunset) are spectacular too! Can’t wait to be back.

This was my second visit to Marrakech and first visit to the world renowned El Fenn Riad! It didn’t disappoint. Incredible interiors designed by Willem Smidt, colourful interesting rooms with Moroccan design features. So many beautiful spaces to read a book, daydream, play with the cats it enjoy a cocktail. I booked a large room and had a huge bath, high carved wood ceilings, beautiful wooden doors and everything I could possibly need. Every room is unique and part of the wonderful surprise of checking in is seeing which wonderful room you will be given. Little touches like dried rose petals to add to your bath water, birds and lanterns in the courtyard trees and resident tortoises who freely roam the corridor really add an extra element of magic. The top terrace is the perfect spot for breakfast lunch and dinner, with great views too! Food was delicious - I don’t eat gluten and managed to have plenty at each mealtime. Lots of interesting vegetarian dishes with great flavours as well as plenty for the meat eaters too!
Location is great, close to the square, and the MĂ©dina.
Wonderful staff in every area of the Riad, always smiling, friendly and kind.
Yes it is expensive, but if you want to spoil yourselves it is a truly wonderful treat.

What a gorgeous review! Thank you so much and we loved meeting you. Food queries are top of many people's lists and it can come as a surprise for some that a cuisine so associated with meat is very workable for both vegans and vegetarians. We've also mindful of this when we put our menus together and so pleased that you enjoyed this element of your stay as much as all the others! Thanks so much for the review.

This is a very beautiful and absolutely unique location - a heaven in the (for us) chaos of the Medina. We liked the beautiful decorated rooms, the patios, which are illuminated with dozens of candles when night comes and the rooftop-bar with view to the Koutoubia Mosque, good drinks and food.
But almost nothing is perfect. In the whole hotel you can't get a bottle of mineral water. They use filtered tap water in the rooms and at the restaurant. We understand the approach to be sustainable, but this water tastes badly of chlorine. Maybe they can find a local producer who offers reusable bottles? Rooms have no locks. We absolutely trust the stuff. But what about the other guests, especially from outside, who visit the rooftop-bar? So you have to put everything in the safe box or take it with you. Food at the restaurant ist good, but nothing special. So in our opinion there is a lot of space for improvement for a hotel of this category.

I know it's expensive, but just book it for one night. You deserve this.
This hotel was the best hotel I have ever been to. It's so much more than a hotel, it's an art museum, a turtle sanctuary, an amazing bar & restaurant, and a water park (they have 4 pools, ones so small they don't even count it on their website, they have so many pools they don't count them all, it's not even that small!)
If you come for one night, they'll let you use the amenities like the pool before and after your checkout, so you can really savor the magic of this place for as long as possible. The spa menu is pretty affordable, considering the room rate (although I didn't have enough time to check it out).
We were upgraded to a bigger room than we had booked, and it was so beautiful! The shower was that wonderful rainfall type and there was a massive tub for relaxing in. The room was just as beautiful as the carefully designed premises, with stunning rugs, beautiful art pieces, and comfy furniture.
The staff here are so helpful! They sent someone to the train station to book our train ticket for us and arranged covid tests right at the hotel for our flight home. Also, I saw on Instagram that they light candles to float in the pool. After dinner, I went to the pool to see it but was disappointed that there were no floating candles. I went to ask what time they'd do it at and when they learned it was my only night visiting they set them up for me! I'm not sure what the schedule is for pool candle lighting, but it seems the night of my visit was not on the schedule, but they did it anyway at my request. They know how to make every guest feel special. We even called them after moving to a different (Re: cheaper) hotel with questions and they continued to help. Then, after we checked out, they sent us three Spotify playlists so we could keep vibing with them!

From perfect location to the most incredible interiors that have made me fall in love with colour all over again to friendly service, delicious food, and perfect cocktails on rooftop terrace, El Fenn have it all. This incredible riad is extremely photogenic but yet looks even more special and impressive in reality. Another amazing thing is that authenticity of Moroccan culture, art, design and food is honoured here yet it feels modern. El Fenn is one of those places that as soon as you check in you feel like you're at home, atmosphere is relaxed, not overbearing yet you can feel the upbeat of this super cool place.
I am yet to check out and needless to say I cannot wait to come back.
Oh, and turtles roaming on one of patios are just way too adorable...

This was our third stay at El Fenn and sadly the magic has been lost. We used to love the relaxed and laid back vibe at El Fenn but with the addition of more rooms and more guests laid back has sadly turned into bad service. The hotel itself is still beautiful and the rooms are stunning. The rooftop bar is a gorgeous spot for a cocktail but I’m afraid it ends there. Our room was beautifully decorated but the noise from the bar/restaurant on the top floor was unnecessarily loud and we were woken often by the staff dragging chairs across the floor as they tidied up at the end of the day until around 1am. I am a big fan of Marrakech and don’t mind some noise from the city but this is internal noise…loud music from the bar, rowdy people coming and going and what sounded like staff rearranging all the furniture every night! It is definitely not the relaxed boutique hotel that is was before.
The food at dinner wasn’t great and the service and consistency of breakfast was lacking. The new space downstairs looks lovely but there was only one staff member to serve all the tables and we didn’t receive the bread/pastries/yoghurt etc that comes with breakfast upstairs. Slow inconsistent service was a general theme throughout our stay and not what you would expect from this calibre of hotel.
Maybe we were just unlucky but no-one asked how our stay was and at the end of the trip despite having a £700 credit from the hotel from a previously cancelled trip (due to covid) we weren’t allowed to use this to settle our bill upon checkout…apparently “to be used towards a future stay” only includes accommodation costs and not any of the food/drinks or spa treatments that we purchased whilst we were staying. Sadly we don’t wish to return after this trip and we have been refused a refund.
Do yourself a favour and visit for a drink on the rooftop bar, take some pretty photos for Instagram and stay somewhere else!

Marrakech is a cosmopolitan city but the medina is certainly more traditional and we believe it’s important to respect that. We’d advise women to cover shoulders and knees if you plan to go out into the souk - particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. But if you’re headed to Gueliz, Hivernage or the Palmeraie, crack out the heels and spaghetti straps if that’s your thing. And as for us here at El Fenn, anything goes, dress up, dress down, it's a home from home here and we want you to feel comfortable, if you love dressing up, we are here to provide the backdrop to a glamorous evening. We look forward to welcoming you.
Thanks for answering Josh and Veronica, we couldn't have put it better ourselves. If you would prefer extra security on your door we can provide padlocks.

Hello, the annex medium room is a lovely bedroom, and has the added benefit of a roof terrace and small plunge pool. The marble bathroom is quite stunning as is the detail of the stained glass patio windows that create the most beautiful reflections during the day.
Very quiet. My room overlooked a street, but there was standoff distance so it was light background noise. You'll have a great time!
