Our receptionists are skilled at answering your pre-booking queries AND everything that can possibly make your stay in Marrakesh a holiday to remember. We will welcome you to our riad as we would friends coming to stay in our home. We have 12 rooms, individually styled. Our riad has a long history of ruin and grandeur, like many old riads, in the middle of the old city of Marrakesh. There is an interesting story behind everything in Morocco. We are perfectly situated at the entrance to the old souk and close to the Djemma el Fna Square. Taxis and transport are just outside our door. We have a swimming pool and hammam, jacuzzi and sun longing rooftop area. We offer practical advice and warm, caring support during your stay. We have a good restaurant onsite - with a delicious breakfast but also open for evening meals - some delicious Moroccan food alongside Italian specials, a local musician and rooftop views. Come stay with us and you will not be disappointed!

We stumbled across the website for Dar Anika whilst looking for a riad in which to stay and were drawn by the peace and quiet that this riad promised. We were slightly reticent about booking as the property was new and had no online reviews although it is obviously being marketed as an upmarket riad as it appears on several other websites. The British ownership, however, put our minds at ease.

It is situated in a prime position close to several attractions (including the open top Marrakech Tour bus stop – although this is an eyesore not an attraction!) and is accessible by road. It is also at the start (or end) of a busy footpath that takes you straight to the Jemma El Fna (approx 10 minutes); mind the mopeds! In contrast to the noise and commotion in the street, it is a place of peace and calm once you step through the heavy front door.

The service is impeccable with discreet and attentive service. This is a result, I’m sure, of the high levels of professionalism with which the British manager runs the place.

The room price included a healthy breakfast of fruit, yoghurt and a variety of local breads. We also opted for the evening meal, which to my mind included some of the best Moroccan food I have ever tasted! I particularly liked the beef tajine with almonds and prunes (had it twice). This British run riad prides itself on meals that are prepared hygienically and to very high standards.

As is the nature of riads, the bedrooms are quite dark and even with all the lights on we found it a struggle to read. We did have a small patio area, however, that was outside (not suitable to sun bathe due to high walls) and pleasant to sit in.

A note of caution. For most North Europeans, July and August is far too hot. For several days during our stay, the temperature was in the low to mid forties with occasional sand-filled thunderstorms (see picture - this is desert country). If you have been to Marrakech before and just want to relax by the pool it is fine but if it is your first time, temperatures like this sap your energy and make casual sightseeing very uncomfortable

Thank you so much for your detailed review. Marrakesh is a place of quick changes and the bus stop you mention has now moved further up the road to Jemaa el Fna. It was always a nightmare for a large bus to manoeuvre around the roundabout and the backlog of traffic took ages to clear. We are close to Jemaa el Fna (on foot) and the Bahia Place, Badi Palace and Saadien Tombs ( a few minutes walk to each). Taxis and transport are just 20 metres from our door. In August we built a larger outdoor terrace, above our restaurant and bar, where you can sunbathe, read, catch the sun and watch the beautiful sunsets. July can be hot - in the 40 degrees and August is hot also but there is lots to do in Marrakesh - swimming pools and cool shady terraces. Thank you so much for coming to stay at Riad Dar Anika. If you are looking for a riad near Marrakech old city Medina and came across to DAR Anika then your search ends here!!! We stayed there for 3 nights and 4days and also planned 4 day desert excursion with them!! They also helped us plan our day activities with a tour guide for the city tour and also where exactly to go, eat, tips for the tourists and watch outs, etc..This was one of the most memorable trip of our life and it was all because of Lyann and her incredible staff!!! There were 3 incredible receptionist genies as I would call them as they were so sweet and friendly, and they made all our wishes of having great time come true !!! We absolutely put all the faith on them to plan it for us and it was the best decision. The location of the riad was also perfect as it was just right at the entrance and you don’t have to walk a lot from the car stop unlike other riads that are inside and you have to walk all the way with the suitcases to get into.
The rooms are very clean and good. Honestly the rooms did not matter so much because we were just outside all day and only came back to sleep..

I will highly recommend this riad for anyone who is looking for having a good time in Marrakesh !!

We cannot thank you enough for your warm and encouraging words about us. We do try hard to make everyone's wishes come true and if we can not it, it is not through lack of trying. Like many cities Marrakesh can be busy, complicated and demanding. We try to help you skate along, avoiding pitfalls and circumventing the usual tiring conundrums. It is a lot of fun in Marrakesh and that is how your holiday should feel. We genuinely want you to thrilled, excited, happy and carefree during your time with us. Thank you so much for coming to stay at our riad. We wish you happy travelling always and for 2020 to be your best year ever. Lyanne and all the team at Riad Dar Anika

We stayed last weekend for four days and were so happy we picked this Riad. Everything from booking the room to organizing our airport pick up through to having a meal ready for us when we arrived late was just perfect and completely hassle free. The Riad along with others in the group is managed by Lyanne who clearly understands the correct concept of customer satisfaction as she organised everything for us and guided us really well in terms of what to see and where to eat. All her recommendations were spot on and her team were able to organise the guides and drivers for all our trips. They also made sure that we got very good value for money and this in itself was a great bonus for first time travelers to Marrakesh. We stayed in room number 2 which was a great size very comfortable really clean and fresh. We had a look whilst walking by at some of the other rooms which are similar in size and design so you wont be disappointed with any of them. We found all members of the team to be extremely helpful, very warm and welcoming which added to the experience. If you want to see Marrakesh and immerse yourself to understand the culture, pick this Riad as it was a truly wonderful experience and a great credit to Lyanne and her team. The location is one of the best, within walking distance of everything so it makes things very easy to see. We will most certainly return.

This beautiful hotel is situated on the door step of Marrakech's main tourist attractions. The Jama El f'na market is 700 metre's away whilst the El Badii Palace with its roosting storks is a mere 300 metres.

Inside is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the local street traders, as you walk through the door you're hit with the sweet perfume that instantly tells you you're in the heart of Morocco.

As you pass reception the beauty of the hotel is revealed, a bright atrium with a small pool on the ground floor, the light reflects from the pool. you can take moroccan tea by the poolside or in the sitting room with its large sofa's. The rooms are generous and the bed was very comfortable! The rooms have all the amenities required, safe, hairdryer and toiletries. The vanilla shampoo is a delight.

On the top floor is the restaurant and a sun deck. The food was delicious, the menu is not extensive but is more than sufficient for a weeks stay. You must try the moroccan wine, the ones I tried were delightful.

The best assets of the hotel are the staff, it was the most excellent welcome and we were treated with the highest regard during our stay. We we there when the borders were closed and the expectation of having to stay in Morocco became very real. The staff gave us every assistance and advice, we had our flight cancelled the day before we were due to fly and were assisted in rearranging transfers to the airport and printing new boarding cards.

As soon as we are able to travel we will be heading back to Marrakech and Dar Anika will be our chosen destination, we made some fantastic friends, the moroccan people stole our hearts.

Dearest Chris and Jo, we were so glad to hear from you and to know that you are back home safely. It was a terrible week of cancelled flights, worry and stress as the airport closure loomed large. We admired your good nature and kindness in the face of adversity and we were certainly happy to see you finally get a flight home. We have a good restaurant on our rooftop with a variety of Moroccan food and a few daily specials. We also have a range of nice Moroccan wines. We can not think of anything better than to have you visit us again once things settle down. You are always welcome at our place. Best wishes always. Lyanne and all the team at Riad Dar Anika

We remember your love for flowers! Marrakesh has lovely flowers (markets full of them) and we buy a huge bunch every day to place everywhere in the riad. Thank you so much for spending time with us. You were so friendly and we enjoyed your company. We are a small (ish) riad - only 12 rooms so we pride ourselves on our helpful, kind service and desire to make every guest feel special and like they are home. Restaurants are opening and there are some really very good one's operating. We hope your remember us fondly and we look forward to seeing you again. Lyanne and all the team at Riad Dar Anika

If you’re looking for a beautiful refuge where you will be taken care of by the friendliest people you’ve ever meet look no further!

My experience at Riad Dar Anika was beyond what I expected. I was greeted by a friendly staff who helped me with my bags, sat me down in a beautiful air-conditioned room, fed me dates, mint tea, and milk and cookies. Best check-in process ever! The manager came out to greet me and show me Marrakech’s attractions on a map. She taught me how to bargain, where to walk, and how to stay safe. These warm gestures and the magnitude of service did not relent over my stay.

This place is as beautiful as the pictures. It was a quiet refuge from the intense chaos you can find in the old Medina. And I found that coal dipping pool essential in the Moroccan heat.

Throughout my stay service was timely, friendly, and very detail-oriented. The breakfast was simple and tasty. In the few days I stayed here I began to experience this place and the staff as home. They were never far away and could answer all of my questions. They never stopped smiling or caring, which was what I needed after traveling alone for a week.

When I left in an anxious hurry to not miss my flight the manager even walked me out to a cab, negotiated price for me, and she sent me off with a homemade sandwich and hug. These are the kind of people I want to come visit again.

Thank you so much Riad Dar Anika,

A solo traveler

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful riad. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to many major sites, close to parking if you have a car, and easy access to taxis if needed right in the nearby square. The riad itself was so quiet and peaceful inside, and beautifully decorated. Our room was very spacious, beautiful, clean, and quiet- and we enjoyed a greater sense of privacy here than in some other riads we stayed in during our trip to Morocco. We loved the rose petals at check-in. There is a lovely shaded rooftop terrace where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

The best part of our stay, however, was the exceptional service. The manager and all of the staff were so fantastic, going above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. We had a evening flight on the day we checked out, but there was no problem safely storing our luggage, and when we returned from a little site seeing out in the Medina, we were invited to relax in the comfortable room off the lobby, and were even served tea and cakes while we waited. They even packed up some fruit and sandwiches for us to bring with us for our journey!

We highly recommend this riad, and would absolutely stay here again if we have the pleasure of returning to Marrakech in the future!

We stayed at Dar Anika Dec 28-Jan 1, one of the busiest times of the year for the property. The entire team went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. It has a very convenient location in the Medina, yet offers the needed quiet at night, Lyanne is one of the most welcoming hosts we have had in a hotel. She coordinated drop off and pick up for us on New Years Eve with such ease that it made it very convenient for us, a family of 7. Her knowledge of the medina and the local culture was a great guide for us to map out our 4 days in the beautiful city. Kudos to the entire team, it was an excellent stay, one we will cherish as a highlight of our trip to Morocco.

We are very proud to read your review. Of course we set out to do all the right things with every guest, every day. But life being life sometimes we make a mistake or fall short. We are always quick to make amends but it is reassuring to know (that for the most part) we are getting it right. We want everyone to enjoy their stay in Marrakesh. Travelling is littered with stories of exotic locations being disappointing because they drove you mad, things were complicated or you felt duped by everyone. We help you rise about the frustrations. Especially if you are only here for a few days we can give you some local knowledge to make the best of your time. We really appreciate that you took the time to write about us and wish your family health, happiness and peace for 2020. Lyanne and all the team at Riad Dar Anika

Dar Anika is a beautifully well maintained Riad centrally located in the old town & in walking distance to lots of tourist hotspots. Having never visited before, a welcome briefing from Leanne the manager was extremely useful & set us up with a plan of good restaurants & places to visit.

The breakfast was hearty with fruit, pancakes, and the most delicious soup (yes soup for breakfast). They also made me gluten free bread which I really appreciated. There is an afternoon tea available each day which was a nice touch.

We had a full body massage at the Riad during our stay which we both enjoyed. We didn’t really use the pool but made use of the sun terrace to relax and enjoy the hot afternoon sun.

All the staff were great & were always happy to answer questions or organise things for us. We were even given gifts on our departure as well as some snacks for our journey home. All in all, a fabulous stay and I would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Marrakesh.

Thank you very much for your kind words and for taking the time to write a review. We honestly love visitors! So, it is easy to support them in their hopes for their Marrakesh holiday and to provide the necessary advice, care and attention to needs. When I first came to live in Marrakesh I was skeptical of the soup for breakfast idea but it has grown on me too! It is freshly made every day from the vegetables of the season. A good way to be healthy and it fills you up so you can do all the necessary walking in Marrakesh. It is uncommonly warm this winter and now it is spring we are already having 30 degree C days. Perfect for reading and lying in the sun upstairs. Thanks so much for coming to our riad. It was a pleasure to meet you and I send all our best wishes for the future. The raid was so spectacular.
What made my experience was the wonderful people and staff that worked there. They went above and beyond to make my experience as enjoyable and accommodating as possible.
They gave recommendations for their favorite spots in Morroco and we exchanged stories about our backgrounds.
The location was also very perfect in the center of the market place and square, you can quickly go to abs from locations. When you walked into the road there was a sense of calm and peacefulness.
I would highly recommend visiting this riad to not just enjoy the beautiful accommodations but to experience the kindness and generousity of the staff.

Grateful thanks for your kind and supportive review. We appreciate and feel humbled by it. Our aim is to create the peace and quiet inside that is so missing from the loud, fun, busy Marrakesh outside. It is so much easier to enjoy bursts of smells and noises when you can come back to the riad to recharge and rest. Jemaa el fna - the famous Square from all the movies and songs - is just an easy 5 minutes walk from our front door. packed at night with street food, Moroccan families, fun, laughter, plays, and music. Thank you and we hope that you keep enjoying travelling. Lyanne and all the team at Riad Dar Anika

Hello Ronnie, thank you for your question. I am happy to inform you that we do offer airport transfers at a cost of 22euros for Marrakech airport. All of our rooms have in-room safes which are large enough to accommodate most laptops and other valuable possessions you may have. Also, you are able to lock the doors both from the inside and with a key from the outside when you leave the room. Have a lovely day and we look forward to seeing you if you decide to stay with us!
