The place is very horrible, cockroaches all round. no hot water, the room was very stingy, no fresh air. rusted taps, only a small tablet of soap., slippery bathroom, one cannot tell when it was last cleaned. The workers are very cautious, that one may refuse to pay the services!!!!! When it comes to meals!!!!!!!!!!!

We were booked in for 3 nights and managed to stomach 2 nights before we fled! There is no hot water, there is no wifi, there is no currency exchange, no bar, no mosquito net, no tea/coffee/kettle, no lift, and I don't classify a piece of soap as 'guest toiletries'. Don't stay here!

Booked online from Australia. Advertised as hot water, but there was none. We didn't realise how overpriced this hotel was at first, as this was our first stop in Africa. Very overpriced- we paid x3 for bottled water and the same for the very average food. Would definately agree with other reviewers this place is badly misrepresented in advertising. Staff... More

Booked it on internet. We spend one night here as a stopover. Cockroaches all over the place and when we left the room early in the morning a big rat came out of the bathroom. No excuses, no service. Never again! Most horrible place we spend the night!

Came into Dar on my last night in Tanzania and searched for places that had WiFi and hot showers. Starlight said it had both but in fact did not, and in talking to staff, it was clear that this was not a temporary condition but a permanent misrepresentation (the building doesn't have hot water heaters). This was extremely frustrating especially... More

This place could be glorious if it were substantially fixed up--it has some funky details 1960s (very approx.) details. However, it's currently pretty grimy/shabby. We felt it was a reasonable deal for the price (Tsh60K/night), since we slept well. But the carpets were a bit scary, and the shower was just a sprayer overhead in the bathroom (no curtain or... Only spent one night here and would not go back. Carpet was sticky and the shower was a pipe in the wall. No hot water but the a/c worked well. Staff were friendly and were the only bright point. Much better options available than this !
