No palms, no beach, and not much of a hotel; Dar's traffic and development have screened off any beach atmosphere this place might have had half a century ago, when it looked quite "modern." All that can be said for it is that it is close to town. It's on a busy intersection, so the outdoor shaded bar/restaurant area is...

We stay here for three nights and it was great, the rooms were well equiped and clean, palm beach is in a good location and easy access to town centre. There is a casino next door which is great to go to in the evening. The staff were very friendly and responded to every need. I would definately stay here...

We stayed for a couple of nights at Palm Beach Hotel. Over all it was all right, but not outstanding. The rooms were basic and clean for most parts. There were bugs in the bathroom and sometimes it smelled of sewer. We had to ask to get a mosquito net even though there were heaps of mosquitos in the room....

Historic hotel, recently been renovated to look sophisticated but remaining with its Greek-esq charm. Lovely bar outside (watch the million bats fly over at dusk; it is an amazing sight). Also right next to a casino with 2 poker tables (against other players; not the house): Texas hold 'em & Omaha are both played. Sometimes the first table gets a...

We only had one night in Dar, on our way home from Zanzibar, and we booked this place based on the review in the Lonely Planet guide (by the way, that guide book gets things wrong way too many times!). The hotel is clean, newly renovated to seem more like a Marriott (with a bit more style), and it is...

Having reviewed the Palm Beach Hotel early last year I feel to mention a few, mostly positive, changes which have taken place since. The first thing that has changed are the room rates. With an increase in operating costs and what seem to be contious good occupancy rates one cant really blame the management for that decision. The booking was...

Small adequate, mid-range/budget, hotel in Dar. Rooms basic but functional with aircon. The aircon worked but there was little correlation between shown temperature and actual room temperature. One of our rooms had a musty smell which had gone by the morning. The hotel is clean and the showers powerful and hot. TV with various channels – the kids were happy....

I stayed at this hotel in Dar for four nights as part of a conference in June 2006. The hotel is run and managed by a Scottish family and has been totally renovated in the past couple of years. I really enjoyed my stay in the Palm Beach. The rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were impeccable....
