I honestly do not know where to begin.... I think the first thing to say about this amazing place is simply, Beyond Exceptional! Honestly. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with open arms - the genuine friendliness and hospitality shown towards my husband and I was real and so very, very touching. The camp itself took our breaths...

we spent the last 4 nights of our family safari in Tanzania at Olakira Camp near the Mara River. it is a small mobile camp (9 tents in total) in the midst of the Northern Serengeti, as close to the wildlife as you can get, with animals wandering through the camp (we witnessed a hippo wandering by as we ate...

We stayed at Asilia's Olakira Camp in its northern location nearer the Mara River. The location is perfect with a great view over the river and hills behind. It is right in the heart of the wildlife area - animals are always visible and frequently visit the camp (including a thrilling night visitation by a pride of lions). The staff...

We added a short, 3 night safari in the Serengeti to our holiday , after spending 10 days in Zanzibar in September this year. All ideas for camps and lodges were made by Gondwana Tours & Safaris. We found all their suggestions spot on and had a fablous time. Olakira Camp in the north Serengeti was, in short, fantastic! Pascal,...

Pascal and the staff at Olakira camp were just great. |everything about our stay lived up to expectations. Firstly the tents, they are comfortable and roomy with good views of the Mara river. Little touches like early morning coffee brought to the tent with your wake up call show the attentiveness of the staff. The meals are first rate and...

Great camp, service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble, meals were out of this world, tents were better than some hotels I have stayed in! Guides were fantastic on the game drives, very knowledgeable.

We traveled a month this fall in four different African countries visiting a total of seven game camps. While each camp was comfortable and the staff welcoming, Olakira Camp on the Mara River, an Asilia managed facility, was our "African aha" moment and our experience there raised the bar exponentially in all areas of gracious hospitality and animal sightings. We...

Our guide, Nathan was excellent - fun to be with, very knowledgeable and a good driver. The camp is very comfortable and the Managers, Zablon and Pascal are always on hand to help with anything. Great location ,just minutes from the Mara river so well placed for the river crossings. Tents very comfortable and spacious. Fairly good food, the Chef...

I absolutely did not want to leave this place. The accommodations are better than most hotels (including flushing toilet in your tent!) and situated in a spectacular position overlooking the Mara river in the beautiful Serengeti National Park. There is a staff of 15 or so operating the camp and they wait on you hand and foot and take such...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Immerse yourself in the Great Migration at Olakira Migration Camp. You will feel the earth vibrate during brave winter crossings of the mighty rivers in the north, or be moved beyond measure by the mass summer calving on the south's grassy plains. Olakira follows the massive herds of wildebeest to two spectacular locations in the north and south of the Serengeti National Park. Home from December to March is the southern Serengeti, where herds of wildebeest calve simultaneously and the plains throng with new life. As the dry days of winter arrive, Olakira relocates north to the confluence of the Mara and Bolongonja rivers for spectacular game viewing at the Mara River itself and around the Lamai Wedge. ... more   less
