We stayed at the Rongai 2 site of the Serengeti Medium Camp for 2 nights. It was such a great experience! Listening to hyenas and lions by our tent at night was incredible. We were also joined at breakfast one morning by a hyena walking really close to the dining tent and the next morning by a group of about...

Full disclosure. We don't like resorts. We have lived in Africa and have most frequently camped while on these kind of trips. But with my parents at a spry 78 and 83 we went with a non-permanent camp as a primary stay on this last two-week trip. Medium Camp is wonderful in so many ways. You actually get to stay...

My wife and I stayed one night at this tented camp and loved it. Our tent was large and comfortable, the food was very good and we found the staff friendly and helpful. I loved the communal campfire which was set up before dinner and encouraged guests to get to know one another. You have to request hot water for...

Impressive semi-permanent "luxury" camp. The food was amazing and the service was friendly. The raised tents are huge, with king-sized beds, electric lights, and flush toilets, and lanterns on the “porch” outside to keep the animals away. A pail of warm water is provided every morning and you can order a hot shower (set up on the roof of your...

Rustic charm and service is what it is all about The tent was bigger than I expected as was the bed. Everything worked the way it should toilet shower lights etc There was a limited bar but it is in the middle of nowhere so I am not sure what people expect. The staff were really helpful and nothing was...

We were very disappointed with this camp. Things can and do go wrong when you are out in the bush but the attitude of the manager and staff was the final straw. Upon arrival we were informed of the price of the drinks and then shown to our tents, which were pitched in the blazing sun, with all the charm...

We stayed at Serengeti Medium Camp for 3 nights in early September and were very impressed with the facilities and the staff. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and quite spacious. The food was really good, too. My favorites were the soups and salads. It's amazing that they can make such terrific food with their limited kitchen facilities. All of the...

Stayed here for two nights on a safari organised by Basecamp Tanzania, it was amazing! Food was fantastic, free tea, coffee and hot chocolate and soft drinks only cost a dollar. Tents are new and spacious, beds are comfortable and there is an attached toilet and shower. In the morning hot water is bought to your tent so you can...

We stayed at Medium Camp ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/chiaolin/4055534040/ ) for three nights. It was the most disappointing place we stayed in Tanzania. The location is O.K. The tents are relatively new, but things are already broken: Our toilet did not flush the whole time we were there - since they couldn't, or didn't want to, fix it, we had to keep...

Tent camping. Tents are decent size but are on ground, no raised platform. In good condition. No mosquito netting over bed. Toilet shower area on back of each tent. We had to carry water into tent to flush toilet. We were allowed 1 bucket of water (hot or cold) per day for a shower. Were told we could not have...

“Depending what you're looking for, you could ask for a tent either close to the dining tent (if you don't want to have to walk far to get to your room after dinner) or far from the dining tent (if you want more privacy)”
