Nestled in the heart of the Serengeti, the Serengeti Sametu Camp is lauded for its vibrant atmosphere, with guests often commending the congenial staff and inviting accommodations surrounded by local fauna and cultural activities. The luxurious tents and breathtaking views coupled with exceptional service contribute to memorable dining experiences. While the location is perfect for secluded wildlife encounters, some visitors note the premium price does not fully align with the value received, particularly regarding food. Cleanliness is generally applauded, although room comfort could be enhanced with better ventilation.

We stayed 2 nights at Sametu Camp. We were welcomed by the staff and greeted so warmly. Because of the pandemic, there were hand washing stations available and temperatures were checked daily by our tour guide. The staff at Sametu Camp went over and beyond to ensure our safety. They personally walked us from our lodge to the main dining area each day and night. They were so educational on their experiences in the "bush." One evening, one of the cape buffalo that was near the lodge was attacked by a group of lions about 100 yards away. The manager told us that we were not in danger but wanted to escort us back as soon as possible. The staff built us a fire one evening and made sure we always had everything we needed. The food was amazing! We are from the south, so we like our food with spice and flavor. There was no additional flavoring needed to be added. His food was outstanding. The morning that we left, we were sad to go. Because of Covid, we were the only guests there, so we had the blessed opportunity of visiting with the staff more than normal had there had been many other families there too. We had gotten to know then in such a short time. They were so friendly and made our experience in the bush so memorable. When driving away from the camp, in my near view was a giraffe, several cape buffalo and a jackal. What a beautiful site with the sunrise in the background. Absolutely stay at Sametu Camp when in the Serengeti. You won't regret it! It really is in the middle of the bush and around all of the animals.

This was my accommodation near the serengeti. This place is pure luxury, I stayed in one of the cabins vs the tents and the cabin was impeccable, the view in the morning and the sunset over the serengeti was absolutely beautiful. The staff added to the perfection of this stay. Jonas the mgr runs the establishment was such professionalism and goes out of his way to make you at home. Barick also added to the charm. The food was also great. This place was the best hotel of all my vacation in kenya, tanzania, and zanzibar. Hats off to them

The location for this camp is absolutely breathtaking, we woke up to having buffalos and impalas outside our room, and after a day of going around we were welcomed with a family of elephants.
The rooms of each cabin is simply well done, the beds are comfy, there is hot water which was so nice, and the bathrooms were huge.
The main lodge has a great bar area and dining area. The selection of food was absolutely delicious and they made sure our family members who had allergies were well informed before they took any food.
On our last night there we booked a bush dinner and it was one of the highlights of our trip to eat under the stars and in the bush!
Thank you for a great stay and impeccable service!

The staff are extremely economising polite friendly and go the distance to make your experience worthwhile. Right in the center on Serengeti this campsite has luxurious clean rooms which are distilling clean with hot water and all other basic amenities. Wildlife wanders around the campsite and you wake up with the chirping sounds of birds every morning. Great sundowners in the evening with a full service bar and sumptuous meals. I don't know what else one can wish for.

Our stay at the Serengeti Sametu Camp was more that we could have asked for. The staff were vibrant and hospitable, and went above and beyond to ensure you had a great stay. Our rooms were impeccably maintained and were extremely comfortable - especially after our days driving on the bumpy roads. The food was also delicious - we were greeted with a warm bowl of soup into the cooler evenings. I would definitely come back to the Serengeti just to stay at the Sametu Camp again because it was such as great experience. Our appreciation to the staff for making it such an enjoyable experience!

I visited this camp with my family which we consist of 4 adults and a toddler. We were given the choice to either go 2 individual homes or a family home. We first decided to go into the individual homes. The individual homes were exquisite and the rooms were amazing actually, but the downside was our homes were so far apart , and because of a lack of WiFi we couldn't communicate at all. So we requested the team to take us to the family house, they never made me feel that it will be difficult which is one of the main reason I'm giving them a 5 star. They have accommodated all our queries and delivered. One of the down sides is that the family home wasn't as beautiful as the individual homes we have seen, but we appreciated having be close to our family to communicate and close enough to the lobby to get WiFi haha.

All in all their staff were extremely friendly and always helpful and considerate of all our needs for the safari.

The food was excellent actually, they let you feel very homey and tasty.

I believe I would definitely be recommending a stay in this camp if you want the best service in town.

We stayed at Sametu for three nights during our month long safari through Tanzania. We were there in August and had a wonderful time. The staff was attentive, the accommodations were comfortable, clean and well located. We were there during the migration time and had wonderful wildlife sightings. Wildlife frequently roamed past our tent but no problems. The camp chef made a special cake for our 50th wedding anniversary and the staff serenaded us! We were hesitant about traveling to Tanzania at this time due to the Covid situation but the camp observed good cleanliness standards and we were glad that we made the trip since it had been scheduled in 2020 and had to be rescheduled.

We stayed in Semetu camp for 2 nights. We came on our honeymoon and stayed in the central Serengeti.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles from all the staff. We were immediately felt welcome. The lobby is spacious and has an amazing view over the Serengeti.

We were taken to our room which was very clean. The bathroom looked new. The room was decorated perfectly, which gave the sense that we were in a hotel but also in the wilderness. It’s worth nothing that you cannot use hair dryers in this place.

We spent 2 days on game drives and you see nearly all the animals in central Serengeti. It’s lion country. We loved our game drives and the location was ideal. There were water bucks, elephants, giraffes and hyenas just outside the accommodation, most of which we saw from breakfast!

What we loved most about this place were the people working there. Jonas is the manager and he took time to talk to us, sharing his amazing stories. The rest of the staff who work with him are all incredibly kind, and made us feel welcome and valued. Small things such as bringing over food when we’re in the lounge, speaking to us and helping us with luggage all make a large cumulative difference to the customer experience

We had a bush dinner which was one of the best experiences of our holiday. This included an impromptu performance of Jambo from
staff, a moment we will never forget.

During my 2 week honeymoon in Tanzania and Zanzibar, the staff in Semetu were the kindest and this this place will always hold a special place in mine and my wife’s heart. I would recommend this place with confidence. If trip advisor did more than 5 stars, I’d give this place that.

Located in the heart of Central Serengeti, Sametu camp offers a beautiful view of the Serengeti sunrise and sunset. You can see animals right outside your room! Before and after sunset they escort the guests to the lobby/restaurant/bar/swimming pool area in their private 4x4!
Our family had 2 rooms, next to each other at the end of the strip. The amenities were modern, bathroom water pressure hot/cold was just right. Turndown service was much appreciated. The camps has its own deck with a firepit. Fires are (supposed/requested) to be lit every evening, and are burning when you return to your room after dinner. They brought hot water to our room before sunrise, so we could enjoy our tea at the room while enjoying the sunrise! The food was delicious and served very attentively. The picnic lunch provided had limited options, especially if you are a vegetarian. Big thank you to all the staff, especially our server Joseph.
Sadly, we stayed for only one night, hope to return some day!

We stayed two nights at Sametu and it was the best two nights of our trip. The staff is exceptionally friendly and anticipated anything we could ever need. We were served complimentary snacks with drinks while at an open air covered lounge overlooking Serengeti. The view is breathtaking. The rooms are very spacious and immaculate. The food was some of the best we had. They recommended wines to pair with our meals and made delicious cocktails. I really cannot say enough about the staff and the service. It exceeded every expectation. Ramadhan was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, down to escorting us with an umbrella to the washroom across the common walkway. He even offered to bring us coffee at 4am before we had a balloon safari. Above and beyond. I researched so many lodges to stay at before our visit and we absolutely made the best decision. It was a truly luxury stay in the middle of the Serengeti.

I’m hypo-glycemic and didn’t have any problems getting meat and vegetables and just skipping the simple carbs and high sugar items. We drank hot unsweetened tea w/every meal and avoided soda pop. The box lunches to eat while in the field were also good, just had to clarify that white breads, sweet fruits and soda pop were not okay.
