This was the first of three Imvelo lodges that we stayed in last month and it certainly set the standard. The "rooms" are lovely, set in spacious gardens and the whole place is in a spectacular position, on the top of a 200 metre cliff above the river. Debbie and her team should be very proud of the standards they... More

I had the absolute pleasure of spending a night at Gorges Lodge in Zimbabwe two weeks ago. It's deservedly a 5 star lodge. The views are out of this world. When sitting sipping on a G&T in the bar area, you look down into the mighty Zambezi River as it flows through the gorge. The tented accommodation is the best... More

Chris and Debbie manage Gorges Lode and their dedication shines through in all that they do, from their friendly attentive staff, to the meandering tropical gardens throughout the grounds. The views are stunning and it was a wonderful start to our holiday. Special mention to "Chicken", their pet guinea fowl! I think it also worthwhile mentioning that if you have... More

You couldn't ask for more- Gorges is absolutely stunning with a very authentic African feel and all the creature comforts. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Gorges and Little Gorges is a mere 30 minute drive from Victoria Falls town and offers a unique Victoria Falls experience from a peaceful and idyllic base on the edge of the Batoka Gorge - a perfect choice for your Victoria Falls safari adventure! At Gorges you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of Victoria Falls town - our peaceful guest accommodation is nestled in a landscaped garden that makes walking to your room a joy, and our staff are renowned for their warm hospitality. Gorges is famous for its spectacular views, described by some as the best in southern Africa; whether you are enjoying a cup of coffee at sunrise on your private veranda or a cool refreshment by the pool at sunset, you will be constantly drawn to the stunning vistas provided by the Batoka Gorge and the rushing waters of the Zambezi River below. Little Gorges is perched on the edge of the Batoka Gorge next to main Gorges. This tented extension of Gorges overlooks the dramatic junction of the Dibu Dibu River and the Zambezi, where black eagles and lanner falcons nest in the sheer cliff faces. Construction of the luxury tents in this rugged, rocky and broken terrain necessitated careful planning and feats of engineering and is a wonderful alternative to the main Gorges chalets while still providing all the same comforts. ... more   less
