The location and surrounds are simply stunning. There is so much to do: kanu, fishing, hiking, bird watching, horse back riding, playing with the dogs etc. The food was also delicious. We could even have our special wishes cooked (fresh fish from the lake). The service is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. Only downside was the cleanliness of...

We stayed 1 night only. Enyoyed the chalet but found it very basic for the price per night. (110,00 US$) Breakfast was good and included No towels in the bathroom, a basic matress, and a small twin bed. No wifi in the rooms The surroundings are great.

I spent a night here with friends in one of the comfortable and cozy chalets, Cedar Lodge. There are not many lodges in the area to choose from so luckily Luwawa offers a perfect combination of comfort, fiendly staff, good food, homely environment and charming setting in the forest close to the dam. Do not expect a highly polished and...

I owe a lot to the people at Luwawa Forest Lodge. I stopped there during my bicycle trip from Cairo to Cape Town for what was supposed to be one night. Finally, I ended up staying there for a week. The reason I stayed so long is because I contracted malaria in Tanzania a week before reaching the lodge but...

Unlike most people who probably visit here, I was staying to work in some communities nearby. Tired of the typical hotel/chains...I was referred to Luwawa by Heuglins Lodge in Lilongwe (another wonderful place). Its tucked away in the forest off of M1. Staff immediately come out to greet you. Accommodations reminded me of staying in a cabin in North Georgia....

It was beautiful experience to visit the Luwawe forest lodge. It is clear that George and the amazing team have great attention for your experience, making a beautiful place in the densly forested area. They protect the area against the loggers. A beautiful treahouse between 4 treas shows the creativity of the lodge. Firewood is brought to the campground. The...

On holiday with my family and this Forest lodge is 12kms off M1 road to Mzuzu. Rooms are good for this type of lodging. Staff are very friendly. Various outdoor activities like horse riding, fishing, tour to the water fall.... The cool breeze is fantastic.

The lodge is in a great setting in a beautiful forested area only three hours north of Lilongwe. The lodge itself and the various chalets and cottages could all use a bit of TlC, as things are a bit run down, but it's still a wonderful getaway for families and groups of friends. The highlight for me is definitely the...

I spent three nights at Luwawa and couldn't speak more highly of it. George and Christine were so, so welcoming- being a lone traveller, they very kindly looked out for me, organised for someone to take me walking and sat down for an evening meal with me- lovely, lovely people! I stayed in the dorm room which is pretty basic...

We camped here for 5 nights and had a fantastic time. George, the owner was welcoming, and so were the rest of the staff including the dog. Lots of marked walks around the forest, as well as activities you could book. Thoroughly recommend mountain biking and horse riding! The food was fantastic, dinner and breakfast recommended also! Facilities for camping...
