First trip to Malawi, purely for meeting held at the Safara House Hotel. The room was really amazing - one of the new big ones out front, and the staff are superb, could not help enough. The style of the place is otherwise eclectic and fun with great gardens too.

The lodge itself is quite lovely. They have strict rules about eating times, but were kind enough to accommodate my meal at 9:30 pm when I was stuck in a dinner meeting in downtown Lilongwe (note that you cannot cancel your dinner at the lodge if your plans change). The

Hello Kate (Kathryn) Thank you for your review and your kind words that we are beautiful, calm and tranquil. In response to your comments: We are very flexible at Safara regarding meal cancellations, as we understand that guests may have to work late, or be invited out elsewhere last minute, particularly as we are predominantly a corporate lodge, having been operating for some years and offering the business traveller an excellent service. You were told on arrival that we were expanding and upgrading our internet routers and that there will be internet disruption. You could have notified the manager prior to your important meeting that you needed the internet to be stable for X amount of period, to which the manager and technicians would have obliged. Yes, I was called in by the manager to explain the bill to you, as you did not understand VAT, Tourism Levy and the amount in Malawi Kwacha, to which you said you then understood. Your booking was most bizarre. On the morning of your arrival, you sent an accommodation request through AIR B&B I responded to yes we have availability. I did not get a reply from you. A few hours later you arrived, in a taxi (flying in from Nairobi apparently) Fortunately we still had one room available for you for the one night you requested. (You flustered about UBER not being at the airport, and wanted to know where Cape Maclear was.... COMESA, you said you had come here for, and then you wanted a good taxi number, and our manager said he would assist you with your phone as you were flustered about it not working on Malawi network......) On your check in form, you requested 2 nights, to which you were told the following night was not available as we were fully booked (and in your AIR B&B request you only requested "tonight", which we would take as 1 x night) The check in form clearly states that check out is at 11am, to which you should have read before signing it. I have spoken with the manager on duty at breakfast and he did not speak to you in the tone which you choose to portray him. For clarity, Bon is the nicest well spoken gentleman and he doesn't have it in him to speak in that way. We are happy to let guests stay around the lodge after 11am, should they need to hang out somewhere before their next part of the journey. And we do not "hurry or chase" our guests away. Your review title ......, "not good if you are in Lilongwe for business" is a little extreme, considering you are the only person to complain out of the hundreds and hundreds of lovely guests that have stayed with us, and do repeatedly come back, as they love it at Safara. Perhaps your perspective on business is different to ours? May you find your inner peace along your journey Kathryn; and may The Universe shine upon you. Love and light from us ALL here at Safara House

I stayed at Safari House in August 2017 for three nights. The place is beautiful, magically creative use is made of reclaimed wood and stones. Tracy, her family and staff are very welcoming, professional and polite. I was lucky to stay in the lodge at the back, it had a big

Thank you for your lovely review. We are pleased you liked staying in The Boma. We did have wifi in the lodge, but unfortunately the router to The Boma (your chalet) was not working at that time. (I am happy to say it is now working well) We hope to see you back here soon, best wishes from us all here at Safara

Beautiful garden -- with diverse outdoor seating areas to enjoy, have a drink or dinner, read a book -- is an integral parts of the lodge. Unforgettable atmosphere. Friendly staff. Comfortable while not luxurious.

So relaxing and really clever space use so you can be part of the group or choose to find your own enclave to read or enjoy the gardens. Tracy has really made this a welcoming and comfortable place to be. Quirky african art dotted all around to make it an exploration each time.
