It’s not a fancy hotel, but the staff are kind and the rooms are spacious and clean. They helped me with laundry, and provided water bottles. The rooms are not numbered. I was on the second floor. Wifi wasn’t that great, but managed. Could never get warm water, but it was so hot outside that cold showers were fine. Bed and pillow are quite firm. It is located close to the airport, and it is slightly like a gated compound. There is a nice sitting area, which is where you have breakfast. Breakfast is fried eggs, baguettes, croissant, mango jam, pineapple juice and coffee with warm milk.

If you are looking for a 5 star international hotel with a pool and elevators - stop reading now. If you want a good, cool Malienne experience, this is a very good option. La Venise Malienne is a homey, cool, relaxed place that is mostly great because of the superb service and the woman in charge, Beatrice, with how she leads it. The rooms are very simple, and conquering the Bamako dust is mission impossible, but the rooms are really cool, with good air-con and a fantastic ceiling fan. there is hot water 24/7, though the flow is pulsating, but it is ok. The welcoming, the kindness, the flexibility - all of that is what makes it so good. we were helped with every need and every request was met. The food is also very nice, and plenty. Wifi was good. laundry service was a real treat. the inner yard, under the mango trees, is the best place to have a siesta at the steaming mid-day. It is, however far from the town center (though 5 minutes from the airport) and most taxi drivers couldn't find it. it is helpful to take their card with you when going out, but having it marked on our GPS system really solved it.

I stayed at the VM, a small family run B&B situated a little bit out of the main centre of the city whist on business with a number of other colleagues for 6 weeks earlier this year. The VM does not offer all of the facilities that can be found at a number of the international hotels in Bamako, but it is markedly cheaper and still offers all that is required for a comfortable stay. The host, a charming French lady, went out of her way to assist with any and all of our requirements and ease us through any local difficulties. They provided us all 3 meals a day, including a ‘packed’ meal for a very reasonable price and the standard of cooking was very good, especially as we were able to effectively choose our own menu. They were also able to organise us daily transport available 24/7; just don’t expect ‘executive’ transport; driving in Mali is not recommended for visitors and is a fairly frantic (exciting) experience, and the vehicles tend to reflect the arduous usage they have. Though situated on a relatively noisy road, once inside the walled, secure gardens it was generally very peaceful and a pleasant escape. Basic, but clean, secure, friendly and very helpful . I can recommend this as a place to stay in Bamako.

La Venise Malienne is the place to stay these days in Bamako. It is well secured ( considered a safe place by some security agencies). Bea, the owner, will take care of you during your stay ( visas, tansport, translators, etc). The rooms are very cozy, nicely decorated with Malian furniture and arts. The garden is a cool place where to hang out in the evenings. But the best is probably the food!! Tasty and different everyday. La Venise Malienne has nothing to envy to other hotels and it's much cheaper. You should stay here if you visit Bamako!

I am quite suprise with all those previous reviews cause this place is basic, rooms are very small, no moscito nets. It is very fas from the city center (good if you come from the airport- they offer a free pick up service). Breakfast is just a simple bred&butter and wasn't served in the garden but in a durk dinning room. Beds are ok but small, there is hot water and TV in the room. Place is not bad I must say but it is poor value for money. I agree that staff specially owners are extremely polite and helpfull (french speaking only) but even though other reviews seems to be a bit exaggerated.

I have spent two wonderful weeks at “laveniseMalienne” it’s a very comfortable Place where you can have as well lunch and dinner. Beatrice was very helpful, kind and did all she could to make me feel at home. Every morning I couldn’t wait to have my breakfast under the” Paillotte. The staff Alphonsine, Vérité, Bassolo and Michel the “good cook” looked very well after Me, I can only say good thing about them all. I found the house very quiet and safe; only 15 minutes away from the Airport; This is very convenient after a long trip. I highly recommend “LaveniseMalienne”. Do not hesitate!!! You will be please. Give my regards to Bea on my behalf. Thierry D

I have the highest regards for this bed and breakfast. It was very clean and quiet. The rooms were decorated with artifacts from Mal too. Very original. Very good food. Happy and kind people there!

I spent two weeks, and Bamako was an unforgettable experience. The hotel has a green courtyard with trees and a covered paillote where it is great to eat and work outdoors. The food is very good, home cooked meals. Beatrice is a wonderful host who helped me with figuring out the city. She went out of her way to make me feel at home. When I told her I needed a hard mattress, I had one the next night. The rooms are spacious with nice decorations. The wifi worked without fail. It is a child friendly space, too. The hotel is 10 minutes from the airport, and on a road where it is easy to get a taxi. I cannot recommend a better place to stay in Bamako.
