The owner of this farm (in collaboration with several other farmers) has established a new 6 day hiking trail starting and finishing on Dusternbrook. We completed this trail last week and found it most scenic and enjoyable. The days were long but not too long. Never again will I drive through Windhoek and wonder what it looks like in the...

From where we had to get through security at the tar road our misery started. Took them five minutes to say we must just go straight. Then we came at reception. No one to attend to us. We shout and walked around, but no one in site. At the end we had to phone them. Road marks to the chalet...

Hi Riaan, Thank you for taking time to air your disapointed experience at Düsternbrook. I have read your comments very attentively and I also asked my staff what has happened. I come to the a conclusion. Could it be that the misery started with yourself? You complain about the security guards not beeing able to give you directions. But first...

A group of hiking friends and I spent a a couple of nights here, at the start and finish of the Khomas Highland Hiking Trail. Johann, the owner, is an excellent host, and made our stay as comfortable as possible. Although we stayed in the campsite, we used the facilities, and enjoyed the food and drink that was readily available....

But thank you very much that you took the time to comment on Duesternbrook, that is really very kind of you. The farm house has a spectacular view overlooking a dry river bed. The original building is a beautiful colonial house and the rooms are decorated with taste. You also get the chance to see leopard and cheetahs that are kept in spacious enclosures close to the farm. there are mostly German and Dutch guests

We spent our last night in Namibia in the Hippo chalet #2. We didn’t want to camp on our last night but didn’t want to stay in a hotel in Windhoek, so decided on the Dusternbrook guest farm (about 50 km away). The hippo chalet seems like a good compromise. We actually booked chalet #1 but were given a choice...

Dear mn143p, A bit of an usual way to adress someone as it sounds a bit unpersonal but I have no other choice. In anyway thank you very much for the time you have taken to comment on Duesternbrook and especially the hippo chalet. There are two things which I value very much. We ended our 4 week African adventure at the guest farm. Farm was great, pool was nice. Bar had limited hours, but the girls at reception had no problem getting our beers if there was no bartender.
