The staff of Camp Gecko came to the rescue when my hotel reservations were cancelled in Solitaire. I wanted to avoid the drive back to Rehoboth in the late afternoon after visiting Sossusvlei and kept looking for any lodging sites that were available. I was fortunate to find this camp site and found it to be so peaceful and FUN!...

We were at Camp Gecko for two nights. It was cold at night, but the beautiful starry nights and stunning view from the dining tent made us forget it. The lodge is run by a former couple from Switzerland. They ate dinner with us and they were great company with interesting stories. We had a great time staying here.

Very nice and relaxing place to stay, in the Namib desert. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Wonderful immersion in the nature. We have slept in the Bush tent, very cozy and nice, illuminated by lanterns, with hot water in the bathroom from the outside wooden boiler. The host Heidi and Renè are very pleased to give suggestions and helpful in finding solutions...

Amazing view in the middle of the desert. Great food and stories. It not to far from the city and you already feel on lunar landscapes. Our guide Felix introduced us to the friendly and brave owner. I would recommand.

All was fine with accommodation but the morning we woke up to no water. I saw owner and walked over to his car. He fixed water quickly. I noted a hunting rifle with him and there were a few more people on car with cameras. After they left we sat on front of tent and had coffee. They drove in...

We stayed here for two nights a couple of weeks ago, and were totally taken in by the remoteness and silence of the place. Heidi has set up some beautifully situated tented accommodation, and the view from the dining room/pub lapa is superb. We birded on the nearby Spreetshoogte Pass, and founf "our" bird, the endemic Herero Chat. A gad...

Camp Gecko is fantastic, possibly the most relaxing break I've had in a long time; Heidi and Rene are fantastic hosts, they are such lovely welcoming people. We had the most amazing views from the tents and I must say it's breath-taking. Wholesome home cooked meals, exceptionally friendly staff and overall a wonderful experience for us. You are just 28...

This camp was very cute, however the tents were quite open and full of bugs. Mosquito nets were available, however it was a bit uncomfortable during the night. Also not a lot of activities to do during the day, so I wouldn't recommend spending too much time there.

This was our third stay at Camp Gecko. Every single stay has been amazing. Heidi and Rene are wonderful hosts and we very much enjoyed our New Year's Eve dinner with them. The eagle campsite is just awesome with an 'open plan' bathroom and stunning view. Rene is an excellent craftsman and manufactures amazing knives. Our son really enjoyed the...

Worn out beds, no waterpressure, broken and dirty bathroom equipment, broken pool, lousy food, no other facilities. Indeed, N$ 700 pppn (!). A complete waste of money, except for the view and the location.

“Don't be expecting 5 star luxury hotel rooms, these are fantastic well equipped tents that offer you slightly more luxury than normal tents, the fact that we could have a hot shower and flush toilet we were very grateful. If you want a hot shower, I would recommend taking your own wood with, the wood supplied is just enough to make the water lukewarm if you like me and need a hot shower to wake up, then take your own wood for the donkey.”
