My husband and I and another couple decided to spend a night at Pioneer Lodge & Camp after arriving on a flight from overseas and before leaving early the next morning on safari. We choose Pioneer Lodge because we wanted to be close to the airport as well as having some quiet time to catch up on sleep. We were...

I did 2 stop overs here in December and February. It's a bit of the road but I would rather camp here for a good rest, the camp grounds are spacious and ablutions are clean with hot showers. It's about 30min drive to the airport and the new Pick & Pay , Food lovers market is about 15 min from...

We camped at Pioneer on two different occasions on our trip through Zambia, and both times we felt welcome and at home. The road to the camp is absolutely shocking, but that shouldn't put you off - at least when you get there, there is friendly staff, a cold beer and a swimming pool to cool off in. The campsite...

Different than many visitors we stayed at Pioneer on and off for four weeks. You could not ask for a more perfect place to call home for a short time. We had ten students and four teachers and enjoyed everything about our stay. Paul and Sophie are wonderful hosts who helped us with everything local recommendations, transportation, and Paul was...

We had two very peaceful nights camping here. The campsite has many shade trees and the ablutions are very clean. There is plentiful birdlife and bushbabies in the camp. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant is good. It is a nice place to relax and meet other travellers.

We stayed one night before flying home. It is convenient for the airport. Not their fault the road is terrible as someone has mentioned. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. Sophie is very helpful indeed. Airport transfers efficiently managed. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Would go back if we return to Zambia. Thank you very much.

Secluded from the hustle and bustle of downtown Lusaka. Welcoming Staff, nice bar and lounge, with rustic decor. Just a pity that it rained so much and that I got ill that night We awoke in the morning to the bird call of the "Piet my vrou"

I came here after a late evening flight arrival. Lovely night and a wonderful quiet idyllic wakeup. Sat outside my lodge having a cup of tea. Magic. Breakfast was adequate, but no chance to ask for some more toast!! The staff were lovely and friendly. The only down side was a group on safari with a loud, outspoken member. Pioneer...

Wish I could return already, and I've not been back a week. Loved chilling in the main area, meeting fellow travelers and sharing a meal with them. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. It's such an oasis on the outskirts of Lusaka. Can't wait to return.

Very convenient to the airport. Your privacy is respected and the peace and charm of the place leave you quite restored and centered. Safari Chalets are basic but comfortable. You'll need a fan during the hot, dry season.
