Unique experience in quiet and natural habitat, a little away from the noisy city. Relaxing environment. Good view of the city across the river. Welcoming and courteous staff. Owner takes personal care!

This hotel has a nice view over the old side of Thimphu. We stayed here 4 nights. There are several stairs and buildings in the hotel. Our room was not totally topnotch but that’s not what we were looking for. I liked the cosiness of the hotel and I liked that it situated in several levels in the hillside.
Our room was normal sized. The bed mattresses were a bit worn-out but I guess I was so tired that I slept well. There are no safety boxes in the hotel rooms which at first worried us a bit. However everything went well. The bathroom was more worn-out and the toilet didn't work easily. It’s common in Bhutan – even in 5 star hotel – that the water pressure is low.
The restaurant serves quite authentic Bhutanese food. The hotel staff was friendly and caring. One evening I had to stay in the hotel and eat alone in the restaurant while the rest of our group were elsewhere. One of the staff came to keep me company.
This hotel is not in the center but above of Thimphu. We only used a car to go to everywhere so I don’t know if it’s possible to walk to the center (and how long it takes). However there are lots of taxis in Thimphu.
Dogs barked in the night time; if you sleep light it's better to wear ear plugs. I understood that there are even more dogs in the center of Thimphu and despite of dogs we slept well.
I would stay here again.

This was our second time to Jambayang resort we stayed there in 2009 as well. This time we stayed for 4 nights and 5 days.
While we were doing our arrangements for the trip I searched for this hotel on trip advisor but surprisingly could not gather much information and whatever reviews were there, they were not encouraging enough.. !
But, still based on our past experience we thought of taking a chance and booked 2 rooms.. !!
I must say we were so glad and not at all disappointed that we made that choice and stayed at Jambyang, compared to 2009 they have upgraded their property and have all basic amenities you can expect in the price they charge..
Their USP is their food we had our mother travelling with us who is a pure vegetarian (no onion no garlic) and fortunately we had no issues at all and their menu has substantial Indian dishes as Bhutan receives majority of its tourists from India.
Staff is very courteous be it front office or Fnb or housekeeping..

Advisable to stay in the rooms near the restaurant they have good view.. Btw no other hotel in Thimphu can beat the view you get from this hotel as it is located on a hill top..

They will shortly be opening their SPA and they have a gym overlooking the valley, which makes workout so much fun.
Now coming to cons:
Hotel located on a hill top, if you do not have a permanent car you shell out 180 nu every time you have to go to the town..We love taking small strolls hence we did not mind taking a walk down to town which is approx 2.5 kms but if you have a kid and old parents you should have a car at disposal..whenever my mother and kid were to go with us we had to hire a taxi..( full day car like a Santa Fe/ Innova will cost you nu 2500-3000)
Approach road towards the hotel is in terrible condition, really can't say why owner is not taking initiative to do it, importantly their is no other hotel located on the same hill..
Overall a great value for money..

Also I would like to suggest to travellers to bhutan that do your research on hotels well, as trip advisor reviews and rating especially for bhutan hotel may not make much sense(just a point of view)

I cannot rate the resort. Only the restaurant.
Located on the hill opposite the city. Outstanding views of the city at night.
Great menu with lots of choices. I ate the Indian food which I thoroughly enjoyed. Sitoutside in the covered area if the weather permits. Don't sit uncovered as it rains.
This dinner experience should not be missed.

I stayed in this hotel in 2014, and now 5 years later. The view of Thimphu is still good but now the view is abit blocked by more structures built within the hotel premises. The immediate surrounding area around the hotel is also now more developed and less peaceful. The facilities are abit dated and needs to be changed. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations. The two rooms that I stayed during this trip had water heater problems. The staff are still the same people as 5 years ago, I still can recognise about 5 of the same personnel and they are still as friendly and courteous.
Food - The Indian food is quite good and tasty. Their chinese food or western food taste is abit below average.
Wifi speed and quality was not good but I was not bothered.

I spent one night at Jambayang Resort during my visit to Bhutan. It’s located on the slope of a mountain which gives you complete view of picturesque capital of Bhutan. The hotel is real value for money. The prices are very reasonable and the rooms are spacious with all the required amenities. I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to use their spa for a full body massage which was a great experience. The non veg food was good. But vegetarians have a problem as the options are limited and one may not get expected taste.
