Dear Mr & Mrs. Barker, Greetings from Shangrila~La Hotel, Kathmandu! At the very onset we would like to express our sincere apology for not living up to the service standard that you expected from us. Upon our subsequent detailed discussion with the F&B department, the feedback we received is that by no means they meant to be discriminatory, rather they...

The Shangri-La in Kathmandu was not as nice as the one in Pokhara. The whole building was a bit old and the room I had was small. There was also a garden which was quite pretty. The cafe/restaurant was situated by the garden. One can sit either in or outside. At weekends, locals came with families for the Saturday brunch....

The hotel has a rich heritage ambiance and the location is also very prime on Lazimpat road. However, the food, rooms and service is not at par with other big hotels. Instead for food, there is a very amazing Vietnamese restaurant opposite this hotel called 'Saigon Pho' which is simply amazing in terms of food.

We had a late booking at this hotel because our booked hotel was in the Pathan district and damaged by the earthquake. It seemed an oasis amidst the devastation, with delightful garden and tents erected for us to sleep outside whilst the tremors continued. Staff were charming, food excellent and we felt well cared for.

Located out of the torust hub of Thamel, so it is quiet. However there are shops and restaurants nearby so it is convenient. Rooms were not that good, pretty small and basic, what is best here are the gardens and swimming pool area. Nice place to unwind after a busy day.
