If you want to stay in a modern faceless Euro box, this characterful hotel is not for you. If, on the other hand you are a connoisseur of the country house style with a hint of Art Deco, all mixed in with a marvellous Nepalese twist, this could be the place for you. We spent 10 days at the Malla... More

The malla advertises 5 stars, but it's in need of a full refurbishment, the rooms where quite shabby, but the worst let down was the breakfast, the hot food was on the most part stone cold and inedible, the toast was precooked cold and has hard as a brick...it's such a shame because it's a great location, the staff were... We were booked to stay here for 2 nights at the start of our Nepal night and then again at the end. Having read the earlier reviews, I was a bit concerned about what we might find. However the hotel and the rooms were nice. Staff were friendly. We had breakfast which was good. I agree that the hotel could... More

It is hard to write this review because there were many really good aspects to this hotel but it really needs a make over to justify it's 5 star rating. The good things included the people all of whom were very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the food was very good, The trouble... More

We stayed at the Malla before and after trekking in Nepal. Perfectly positioned adjacent to Thamel, the Malla was a haven for us after the chaos of Kathmandu. The staff are friendly, quietly engaging, and cheerful, and go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you need. They kept our passports and extra luggage without charge while... More

Stayed here before and after our epic trip to Everest Base Camp last November. On the way there it was to prepare our selves and do a bit of sight seeing, in fact we saw David Beckham! On the way back it was the scene of a first bath in 3 weeks! Kathmandu is an amazing city, the Malla is... More

We were the first visiting group this year and there were no other guests but luckily there were 16 of us. The hotel made us very welcome but it did lack atmosphere. There were power cuts, which were not the hotels fault, as there is a shortage of fuel coming into the country. The hotel did have a generator which... More

Although the hotel staff is very nice, the condition of our guest room (a "Delux Room") was dingy, dirty, and had tattered lamps. The company who booked us there probably had a good rate, but we expected more. Luckily we booked two additional nights that we required at another hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, there are... More

I stayed for a total of 3 nights at the Hotel Malla as part of the hf holidays Bhutan Adventure, with Kathmandu being our 'jumping off' point in the region. Very conveniently located for souvenir shopping, outdoor kit (although 99% are Chinese knock-offs not designed for the European female frame) and some nice restaurants. The rooms on the 4th floor...
