Spent 3 nights at the beginning of a tour with Saga, in room 515. This overlooks the garden, it's quiet and was in good, clean condition. Full bathroom with plenty of hot water at all times. Public rooms are smart though once you leave them things get shabbier. Food is very average and drinks are ridiculously expensive compared to elsewhere...

This is the 2nd time we stay in the Malla hotel in the last three years. The perfect location and the good service are the reasons we chose again this hotel. It is like a quiet oasis in the middle of the noisy Thamel. It is a nice place to be after a 2 weeks trek in the Himalaya but...

Stayed at the Malla for a week. Spent one night on the ground floor - the rooms there are awful. The fourth floor was much better, but the rooms overlooking the swimming pool are noisy because of the hotel/guest house very close next door. The rooms overlooking the gardens are much better. Breakfast is pretty good, but otherwise meals at...

We trekked in Nepal in November/December in 2010 and used the Malla as our base at each end of the trek. This was the fourth time we had used the hotel. We love it! The staff are very friendly and the common rooms are spacious and kept very clean. We were on a a B&B basis which works well for...

stayed here recently on business and was pretty disappointed. Plusses are, it's very close to Thamel, you can get an edible breakfast and staff are friendly enough. Negatives; dinner is dire!, rats run around in the evening in the gradens and one night we even found one running along the foot rest in the lounge bar. When we complained, the...

It seems The Malla has really hiked its prices since it built the new casino. Prices are about all that have gone up though, as the service and food is still as poor as when i stayed last time. The health club is a joke. They let women have showers whilst men are in the sauna. The steam room is...

The location of the hotel is good, near Thamel where all of the tourist congregate. Breakfast was good. The room we were given was a bit grubby in the bathroom and the room itself did look old and depressed. In saying that, it was ok.

Good location. In the northern edge of the Tamel shopping/dining district, so within walking distance from the shops and bars. Has a quiet environment despite being close to the bustling/noisy areas. The room was fine, with a nice view of the quiet garden/lawn area. The toilet water was yellow, but water from the faucet looked OK.

Went with a Saga group, who use this hotel for their Nepal trips. Room ok on arrival, but meals provided were buffet style and varied in quality. Water is brown in this hotel. On our return to the Malla rooms were not ready and when we did get one, which was very shabby, the maid did a cursary vac down...

We had an enjoyable stay at the Malla. For Kathmandu, it is one of the classic hotels, and is locally owned. While the rooms are a bit dated by modern standards, they were comfortable, and the service in the hotel makes certain that you are at ease.
