I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks and loved it! I stayed at the rear of the hotel which helped with controlling noise at night. This place had serious character and the owners are just so lovely. Truly inviting people who want their guests to be comfortable and safe. The place is securely locked up at night and there...

A homely comfy little hotel visited and blessed by the Dalai Lama himself. Mama Utse the lady owner of the hotel has such huge warmth and is always flowing with gentle kindness. She is ever willing to help us find our way around and always gives tips and pointers so as to not to be cheated outside :) The manager...

We are regular travellers to Nepal and the Utse was the first guesthouse we stayed in in Kathmandu in 1995. We returned many times year after year and got to know Dikkie and her family well. Sadly on one trip to Nepal about 8 years ago we decided to stay elsewhere because the surrounding area became too noisy with music...

Charming place to stay in Kathmandu. I've been staying here every time since I started visiting Nepal in 2002 (6x). The hotel is located in quieter part of Thamel, close to everything a trekker or a climber might need before heading out into the mountains. Hotel Utse is one of the older hotels in Thamel, it has a distinct Tibetan...

We were a party of teenagers staying at this hotel for five days, staff polite and friendly, rooms basic but beds clean and comfortable, plenty of hot water even though there was a shortage after earthquakes but quality of food topped it all. Fabulous:)

UTSE hotel is an absolutely wonderful, fantastic hotel in every way!!! Receptionists are most friendly and helpful, everything is very clean, food is absolutely DELICIOUS and also served to the room. As a Tibetan hotel it is most beautifully decorated in Tibetan style and there's a lot of attention payed to the detail: from the lobby to the restaurant to...

Variety of rooms for different budget. Free yoga class on Saturday mornings on a terrace. Hot water when we stayed was from Solar system.... So warm late morning and depends on consumption... Rooftop is the best - sunbathing, you can also have a breakfast here and stay till late night.

I have just come back to Nepal and the beautiful Hotel Utse. I travel here every year. All earthquake damage is not anywhere near as bad as the western media portrayed it to be. Hotel Utse has no damage whatsoever. It still has the same happy and bright people working here, and they are modernising things all the time. Come...

We stayed in April 2015 prior to the earthquake. We stayed in 3 different rooms over a period of two weeks. Every room was clean - I mean Q-tip inspection in the corners clean. The staff seems to be polishing and mopping all the time. On top of that, they have wi-fi; All reception staff speaks English, and are very...
