This hotel was absolutely beautiful. It has beautiful wooden carvings and it's well worth paying extra for a deluxe room. The grounds of the hotel was simply beautiful. Kathmandu is a very lively and chaotic city so it is lovely to have an oasis of...More
I stayed at the Kantipur for three nights in early December 2013. Not having visited Nepal before, I really didn't know what to expect, but the Kantipur surprised me positively in almost all aspects. Located a short walk away from the streets - you get...More
Located on a back alley, next to the centre of things ( Thamel shopping streets, Unesco s site Durbar Square) Kantipur Temple makes a great if not the best place to stay in Kathmandu. This is my honest opinion after few nights spent at this...More
Stayed for 3 nights in this lovely hotel from 23 - 26 October. After emailing (best way to contact direct) prior to my trip they successfully collected me from the airport - definately worth the US$10. Staff could not do enough to please and morning...More
We booked here judging by the reviews and photos and it turned out to be really good in that price range. The location, the architecture, the cleanliness and the restroom facilities were all surprisingly very good.

I don't think you need to be picked up at the airport. I walked out recently, and got offered first off a taxi to the hotel for £6,. English . Or $6.- Australian, I can't remember, but it was the first offer I got, and I couldn't be bother haggling after a long flight to save maybe a few cents. The hotel will organise anything you want. They charge more like $10.- Australian , but then you have a sort of guarantee. The hotel reception staff is really friendly and intelligent, you can talk to them. I booked my taxi to the airport to leave Kathmandu via them , even though it is a little more expensive that way than walking down the street , but I wanted a feeling of guarantees. The hotel is really good. As for booking direct, any hotel pays a percentage to the system that you book through, so it is always, internationally, possible to get a better deal if you deal direct. But then you might feel a little nervous and uncertain, and is it worth it. The people behind the counter at the hotel are really intelligent. They speak great English and have a sense of humour. You can talk to them.
