A great location, simply the best staff in Kathmandu, however the rooms are now very tired and in desperate need of a makeover. Door handles keep falling off, there is also that third workld plumbing problem of sewer smells coming up the service cavity into the rooms. The garden is a welcome relief after a busy day in Kathmandu !

In Nepal, one must relate all ratings in relation to the price and the fact that Nepal is not Europe. Nirvana is really well located, has the basic services but lacks the finesse of a better hotel in Europe. The room was good, but as it lacks both heating and cooling, we had to ask for a separate heater, which...

I really enjoyed my stay at Nirvana. Although on the pricey side (for Thamel) it was not unreasonable, and I would pay it again for the amazing breakfast, the lovely garden, and my own private balcony (overlooking said garden). Some of the staff were friendly, some not so much. My room was comfortable and clean, although the bathroom was a...

We stayed here as part of a holiday package. The hotel is located in a quiet garden setting right in the heart of Thamel. It’s handy to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. The garden is very pretty with flowering shrubs and a lovely waterfall. We stayed here on three different occasions during our trip and had three different rooms. All were...

The hotel is situated in the old town area of Kathmandu (Thamel) colourful shops and outdoor clothing shops are on the door step. The hotel has safety deposit boxes and a storage room where luggage can be left (free of charge) for a few days if you leave to trek or visit other areas. Although some rooms are small and...

The beds are hard as rock; the sheets and towels feel like sandpaper, and there are a few critters to keep one company at night. The internet is non-existent. But the staff is helpful, water pressure is good (even if not always hot), the garden is lovely, and it feels like an oasis amid the chaotic streets of Katmandu, Nepal....

The Nirvana Garden Hotel is in the Chhetrapatti area of Katmandu, right adjacent to the tourist area of Thamel. It's in a reasonably quiet area, without street noise, but there is generator noise during much of the night, depending on where your room is situated. The hotel is well kept up but does reveal some of the ravages of age,...

I stayed here at either end of a group trek and it was poor in comparison to other accomodation in Thamel and Kathmandu. It is expensive, there is no fan and very dodgy old aircon. I spotted cockroaches on multiple occasions in my two different rooms. Myself and travelling companions were unable to get hot water sometimes. Don't stay here...

I am baffled that this hotel has received a Trip Advisor award for 2013! I trust Trip Advisor so much and to think that they award this hotel with anything is beyond me. First thing: most everyone that stays at this hotel is here as part of an organized tour. The reason this is bad is that they completely strip...

Firstly, this hotel was booked as a package tour so I didn't book it directly. I stayed here twice as I travelled two times into Kathmandu during my trip. The first time I must admit was horrible and the room was really disappointing. The room I had overlooked another hotel at the back and was utterly charmless and void of...
