I am writing this from room 401. On my last visit I stayed in 501. Both rooms face the courtyard, which is a lovely oasis. I've just returned from a two week trek to Mt. Kailash in Tibet and so I have quite a lot to compare this to. For central Kathmandu, this is an excellent value. Make sure to...

A great place that was not pricey and was close to the hustle and bustle of Thamel. The stay was good, the constant smiles and good service made it all worth it. If you're looking at your wallet, then this is the place to stay.

Wonderful hotel, especially for the price. On a recent trip through India, Nepal, and Thailand, Hotel Ganesh Himal stood out as one of my favorite places. It is only a 5 or 10 minute walk to get to the busy central Thamel. The hotel is very nice with a beautiful lobby and nice garden restaurant. The staff were also very...

This hotel was a unespected surprise. Once landed in Kathmandu, you feel overwhelmed by the traffic jam, the huge amount of people and pollution...it could seem a nightmare until you come to the Ganesh Himal Hotel. We still haven't found our Shangri-la, but for sure this hotel could be a little piece of it. The serendipity of nepali smiles and...

Hotel is very comfy, clean and with a superb staff who were able to help with just about anything we needed. Airport pickup, clothes cleaned, arranged a bus ticket to manakamana, they did it all at a great price. The hotel is also just off the main streets into Thamel, so you're near where you want to be, but without...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ganesh Himal. The rooms were average but on our second stay we were placed on the 6th floor rooms which I found to be better and brighter. The rooftop terrace is also right at your door. The upside of the walk up the 6 storeys is that it gets you conditioned (somewhat) for...

We spent more than 7 nights here and enjoyed are stay. The rooms are a little outdated and the bathroom was as small as a 19 Century Russian jail, but both were spotlessly clean. We felt the hotel was slightly over priced as we have stayed in better hotels around India and Nepal for half the price, however free airport...

I spent a total of seven nights, dispersed over three individual stays, at Hotel Ganesh Himal and found the rooms to be comfortable and clean. The staff were initially formal, however I found them to be warm after a number of interactions. The hotel itself is located in Chetrapati, which is just outside of Thamel (approximately 5 minutes walk to...

We had a total of 6 nights at the Ganesh Himal hotel recently and it was a very pleasant experience indeed. The staff are very friendly and pleasant, the food is good and reasonably priced (try the trekkers breakfast!) with ample portions. Meals can be served in the garden if need be. Local papers are provided and the free airport...
