I visited the Grand Hotel Taipei to see it for myself as it has such a storied history. I was able to get there in time for the buffet lunch, which had a very varied selection, and was open till at least 4 pm. The service was very responsive, the quality of the food was great. The lobby of the...

My husband always wanted to stay at this hotel having seen it from afar as a young boy. We stayed one night in a deluxe room. It was everything that we expected in a landmark hotel. The room was spacious with a very large balcony. Alas no seating on the balcony. The interior of the hotel is quite large so...

My visit was to check out 'the most original building'...which was built by one of Complex joinery techniques; Mortise Joint (Building w/o nails). During 1952 my father was one of the master of carpenters...who all used mortise joint to build government buildings or temples. End-up we're dining at the Golden Dragon Restaurants. I've made some light chating with Mr. Kao...

We came here for sightseeing. Our driver recommended this place and we stopped by to take a look. The decor is extremely oriental, red and gold seems to be the domineering Colours. Suitable for elderly and people who loves oriental decor. This hotel was built initially for Chiang Kai-shek to accommodate foreign dignitaries. Lee Kuan Yew, Nelson Mandela, Margaret Thatcher,...

The Grand is a very unique hotel and a genuine piece of Taiwanese history. It was Chiang Kai Shek's idea to create a landmark hotel to welcome foreign dignitaries visiting Taiwan and since the main building was completed in the 1970s, it has been a true Taipei landmark, which many people come to visit. The buildings are humbling and palatial,...

First you are gobsmacked by the splendor of the exterior architecture. Then the grandeur of the lobby. Kudos and wow to the lantern and lighting designs. And then I walk into my 7th floor junior suite--spacious and luxurious. The balcony alone is the size of most standard hotel rooms. Everything said about the expansive view in other reviews are true....

We stayed at Grand Hotel Taipei for two nights in their Chi Lin Pavilion with a balcony overlooking the American Club and river/city view. It's not a very expensive five-star hotel but definitely the most historic one in the city. Entrance of the hotel exemplifies the favorite Chinese style with golden dragons in the ceiling and big red columns supporting...

The hotel's roof is believed as the world's largest Chinese classical style roof, providing the appearance of a large hotel building stands upon the hill. A phalaenopsis orchid beautifully bloomed displayed in the hall of the Grand Hotel we saw seven years ago is replaced with a Christmas tree. Hotel guests may enjoy a panoramic view of the express roadway,...

One of the must visit building in Taipei. Take the red line metro to Yuanshan Station and take a taxi. You can visit the hotel and admire the grand architectural works that are put into this building at that time. Still well maintained despite the many years!
