I first came here in 2010 when I was travelling round SE Asia, and had stayed in various guesthouses and hostels on the Kaoh San rd whilst in between trips to various places in Thailand (you pretty much always have to come back through Bangkok). The owners live on site, and the staff are without a doubt, the nicest in...

We had air-con room with shared bathroom. The room was small and stank with cigarettes, I had an oily stain on my bedding, the wi-fi didn't work in our room. What I liked was very nice and helpful staff and central location near to Khao San Rd. All in all, I will not stay there again, I think there are...

I thought this hotel/hostel/B&B was a good fit for me and my traveling companion. The place was impeccable and the staff was helpful. I was able to arrange transportation to Cambodia from the front desk and get a tour of one of the floating markets as well. I had their daily breakfast and was always satisfied with the quality and...

prices are reasonable and the location is first-rate. we came here in time for the loi krathong festival in 2012 and only had a short time to stay, but thanks to the friendly and helpful staff, we were able to make the best of our visit. the hostel has a quiet, distinctly home-y feel that makes you want to stay...

We stayed here for 5 nights. It was our first experience of Thailand, as we had only arrived the night before, and we had a lovely time. The rooms have everything you need- a fridge, a warm shower, air con (or fan), a comfy bed and feel secure. There are 4 options for breakfast and the fruit is lovely and...

We stayed at sam sen sam 4 nights and overall the place is good. We liked it there it was a good location and peaceful. Unfortunately we paid to store our bags there for one week and our smart phone and digital video camera were missing when we returned. If you pay for storage at a guesthouse you assume your...

Sam sen Sam is a nice place to stay for an affordable price, but it's not so cute and clean ( especially the bathrooms ). Our room is really really small and not cute at all. The breakfast is definitely not really good ( instant coffee, cheap tea, cheap toast ...) But the staff is really friendly and helpfull. I...

I spent a couple pf weeks at Sam Sen Place as I was recovering from a surgery in Bangkok. I was very lucky to have found this place and I had a really pleasant stay. The location is excellent, very close to the busy Samsen Rd and popular Khaosan Rd, but nevertheless located in a quiet, traditional Thai neighborhood with...

We stayed here for 4 nights at the start of our 5 months around Asia. It was nice and easy to find when we arrived. Friendly staff to check in and every time you left/ came back. Nice little breakfast included. Everywhere was really clean, room, communal bathroom, outside areas. Nice location, far enough away but we still walked over...

I can't speak highly enough about Bobby, Mam and everyone else who works at this hotel. They were exceptionally friendly and informative regarding where to eat, places to go and how much to pay for cab fare. The hotel is a 5-10 min walk from the Khao San night market and other good places to eat. Save your appetite for...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
