The owner is welcoming but strict, which is great because only the best people stay here. There are cooking facilities and Jane encourages group meals. The view is awesome, and the garden is perfect. The dorm is a really good price and the rooms are equally fair. I love this place.

We stayed only one night here for the great price and it was with it! It is very hard to find, tucked away down some winding back alleys - google maps and locals helped a lot but perhaps the hotel should make it a bit more obvious. Check in was easy and the staff were lovely, our double room was...

i reserved a single room here, it was on the first floor of the wooden house, very simple but also a very good deal. The staff is very kind and always available. The area could seem a bit dodgy but is a very typical "village within the city" and is actually very quiet. Walking distance to many tourist interest places...

Reading reviews on Tripadvisor, Phiman has its fans and its detractors. In my humble opinion, it depends on what you seek. If you're in the mood for meeting other travelers, get to know a bit of Thai life (you may take the evening meal as a little family, learn some basics of cooking). Remark, there is absolutely no obligation :...

Location: very close to Khao San road, right by the river. It gives off a beach vibe, which is very welcome in rather overwhelming Bangkok. The neighborhood is poor but safe, with lots of Thai families living by the river. Owner: Jane is very friendly and helpful. My bag didn't arrive with my flight, and she gave me clothes in...

Unfortunately I was sick with dengue fever when I arrived in Thailand, so I couldn't make the most of this hotels great location and the meals that guests would cook with the owners and I didn't really socialise. But there's a great atmosphere at this guest house, the owners are so friendly and helpful. It's a great spot right by...

If you want a beach style kind of vibe in the centre of Bangkok and want to pay low rates, this is the place, friendly staff, good views, cheap beer and close to the action, a lil hard to find but nothing google maps can't sort! I'll either stay here or at my friends place...unless I win the lottery then...

Friendly staff and good central location. The neighborhood gives you a new view of Bangkok. Lots of plastic and a wooden boardwalk takes you to the guesthouse. It was absolutely not easy to find. But the locals showed us the way. This guesthouse has a creative more bohemian vibe and is probably not suited for tourists looking for a standard...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
