The Fortville guesthouse is in a good location, about a 5 min walk from the Khao San road, so you're close to all of the bars and restaurants there without the noise and crowds. After seeing the website for the guesthouse we were expecting somewhere a bit funky and quirky, but in reality the rooms are basic and look a... More

When I entered this guesthouse for the first time, I felt comfortable. Dunno why. I have a check-in late night, around 12.30 am, because my flight just arrived on 11.30 pm. The receptionist help us to get the room and when we had a conversations, we knew that he is an Indonesian too like me. So, we speak Indonesian languages.... More

If a hotel knew that the air-condition was not working, why would you let the room out. When we ask for them to check the air-condition we simply got no service and staff couldn't find a solution. In addition, a new room was not offered. I understand it isn't the staff's fault but a little service with a smile would've... More

I laugh reading other comments that the rooms are small. We just arrived from Hong Kong and the room here is at least double the size of our HK room. But I digress... Basic simple rooms, comfortable, very clean, safe and an excellent location within walking distance of the main sights. Several cheap restaurants near by and a coffee shop... More

Basic guesthouse. Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff is good. Has a lift. Walk 5 minutes right and you can get to water taxi wharf. Walk left 5 minutes and you are in the Ram Buttri-Khao San Road area. Good food and decent shopping. Will stay again

We went into initial shock when we were ushered into our room at the Fortville. Our fault, I guess - expectations too high despite the modest price they charge. But there's no doubt - the rooms are tiny. Just enough room for your suitcase on the floor, the bed and the sparse furnishings - a coatstand and a small bedside... More

We stayed a few nights and were very pleased. It's a newer hotel and very clean. Simple but tasteful decor. Cafe downstairs has good thai and european breakfasts with espresso/cappucinos. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. 7-11 conveniently next door. A very short walk to Khao San Road and backpacker alleyways. The price is very good and our room... More

I stayed here for my first 2 nights with my boyfriend before we travelled to the islands. Its walking distance to Khaosan Road but quiet enough to sleep. The room was nice, big bed, very comfy, fridge, TV with movie station and great shower in bathroom. Its very cheap and the staff are very helpful. When I arrived in Bangkok... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
