The hotel was really good and comfortable. The rooms themselves are well laid out with a good bed and excellent bathroom. We stayed on the 5th floor and had brilliant views over the local Wat. The pool was very welcoming especially with the heat in Bangkok. The staff were very helpful and wifi was available throughout the communual area for... More

Lovely hotel. Spotlessly clean rooms, free wifi in reception, very helpful staff. A little of the beaten track, but only a 15 / 20 minute walk to Ko San Rd - which is a very good thing, you get all the benefits of being close to the nightlife without being kept awake by it! Reception very helpfully provide directions in... More

Very clean, comfortable hotel with security and a lovely pool. On a funky side street (print the directions in Thai from the web site for the taxi driver because no one knows where it is) one block from Standing Buddha and a 15 minute walk to Khao San Street. A short walk to Chao Phraya Express (boat taxi - less... More

If you prefer to stay in an authentic Thai area of Bangkok, the U-Place is definitely the place to be! The hotel is very new and perfectly located like a 20-minute walk from Kao San Road. Even though you are near where everything happens, there are hardly any tourists around in this area and the hotel is a very quiet,... More

We (family with two small children) stayed at U-Place (1 bedroom apartment) for three weeks - the monthly rates offered were great value for us. The hotel feels like a sparkling spaceship in a very Thai, lower middle class neighborhood. What we liked: * Super clean; tastefully furnished * The 1-bedroom apartments are really family friendly: separate room so the... More

We stayed in U-Place, Bangkok for 6 nights in January 2012. We booked the hotel on the back of some good reviews and because of the location which is set around 10 minutes walk from Khaosan Road. This means you get a good nights sleep but your not far from the mayhem that Bangkok has to offer. The hotel itself... More

I spent the last two weeks travelling around Thailand and the accommodation in U Place was by far the best for service and value for money. The Hotel is very modern with excellent facilities that you would expect from a more expensive resort, modern spacious rooms including free wireless internet access, a helpful porter, lovely swimming pool and gym. There... More

Located approx 10-15 minute walking or a quick taxi/tuk tuk from Khao San rd, this is a great boutique hotel. Everything is very modern and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is small and quiet and has a beauiful pool and small (very small) gym. Great place for a couple or friends to stay that want... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
