Overall, this hotel is very nice. Our room was spacious, clean and had a great view overlooking the river. After checking in, we explored the neighborhood. When we returned to our room it had the distinct smell of sewage. The smell lingered the entire night and into the morning. We didn't make a big deal about it since we were... More

Absolutely loved this boutique hotel. We wanted a hotel that was Thai run and this did very well! Positives: * Fab location right by Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, only 10 mins in a tuk tuk to Khao San Road * The coffee at breakfast is really good * The bar and restaurant are right on the river which... It was a nice first impression. even though it's not a five star hotel but for its service it had done very well. All staff said getting to me courteously that made me feel very happy. but for the bad point its food and beverages are quite expensive and also some facilities that it proves to the guests don't work... This is the second time we stayed in sala arun. Im sorry to say but the high service and friendly staff has gone. The rooms are mouldy and needs to be renovated. It s far to expensive for what you get.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and we were literally only able to sleep from 3am-6am. The roof bar is incredibly noisy, and even after the bar has closed the staff stomp up and down the stairs only 2 meters away from the hotel rooms taking glasses up and down to clean them. Staff were initially apologetic, but nothing had... More

We stayed at the suite, which might have helped a great deal to make our experience unforgettable, but our first time in Bangkok pays a great tribute to our stay in Sala Arun. When the taxi stopped we were puzzled by the long alley at the end of which a pale sign "sala arun" was flashing. It was 6 am,... More

Lovely little hotel right by the river. Great views of Wat Arun and pretty good food (though we got somewhat bored of the limited options after a couple of days). It gets noisy with all the river traffic especially at night when the party boats/ dinner cruises pass by blaring music but if you don't mind that this is a... More

If you are looking for a place to chill as the day turn to dusk, then this is the place that you want to be. Get there early to get a good seat and then watch the sun set and wait for the lights to turn on on the Temple of the Dawn.

This is the third time I've visited this restaurant and it's consistently excellent. Recently we went with four children and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The best food here is obviously Thai, ask for the soft shell crab with garlic it's their speciality but not always shown on the menu. There were 8 of us and all the food... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
