When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.

We just wrapped up a two night stay at The Siam on our way home from Bhutan. What an absolutely amazing property. You feel as if you’re staying in someone’s house given how private it feels and the amazing art and artifacts everywhere. Our Riverview...More

People often ask me for my favorite hotel, and it's an absolute pleasure to say The Siam. I've travelled quite extensively through Southeast Asia and blessed enough to do so exclusively through luxury hotels and never have I felt so spoiled yet at home. Careful...More

We absolutely loved The Siam. My review won't do justice to this urban luxury hotel but I'll give it a try. The hotel is gorgeous, located in Dusit right on the river. Dusit is in the northern part of Bangkok, outside all the hustle and...More

I travel to Bangkok quite frequently and have stayed in all the top rated hotels. The Siam is in a class of its own. The Mandarin Oriental, its closest rival, is essentially a Sheraton with nice fittings in comparison to The Siam. Some highlights: -Their...More

I don't believe it's walkable. The area is mostly government buildings and temples, including the palace. Best to go via boat (which the hotel provides) up and down the river for shopping. Lots of restaurants up and down the... More
