Rooms were massive, we had 3 nights here. 3 showers in the family rooms. Mind you I am 6'2 and had to duck in the shower but they worked. Fresh water delivered daily at no charge, wifi free. The included breakfast suited all tastes and the noodle broth was brilliant. The revolving restaurant was below par, the view was the...

Our travel agent booked this hotel for us for our 3 day stay at Bangkok before we headed on to Chiangmai and phuket. We took the city/temples tour and Damnoen floating market tour while here too. The hotel is very nice. Very up to date looking and clean. Reception is friendly and the bell hops are incessant on you not...

First time staying here as we wanted to shop at Sam Peng. I had booked twin-sharing but was given a double bed instead, so was a bit disappointed. But the room sort of make up for the initial disappointment. The room is spacious and clean. There is a sofa & coffee table in the room. The hair dryer is in...

Fantastic location, nice and polite Staff (especially reception and drivers); nice city view; tasty braekfast with big choice of dishes. Room was clean, everyday fresh towels, minibar and safe box in the room.

Walking from Bangkok Railway Station, the Grand China Princess is at the far end of Chinatown down the Yaowarat Road. We made the trek on Chinese New Year and it took rugby training to get through the crowds. The Princess was a haven of peace after the scrum session. Taking the lift up to the bar restaurant, we were greeted...

If you want a high rise hotel, this is it. Located right in the heart of Chinatown, the views from the hotel are just stunning, we were on the 19th floor and requested a balcony, which we had :) The rooms are quiet and comfy and are ok if you are travelling light, not much space to put away your...

It's not the cheapest place to eat but it's not too expensive. The revolving restaurant is this place's saving grace as the views are fantastic and unique. Food is good and drinks are well made. It could be a very classy, hip place to be but the dated decor lets it down.

Despite the bad comments from some people this hotel was lovely, breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. Swimming pool at the top wasn't the biggest but was clean not a lot of sun loungers but we were there to sight see. Towels exchanged daily and bedroom tidied daily. Daily newspaper delivered every morning and put under the door free...

We didn't originally book this hotel. The one we originally booked closed before our stay, so the booking website upgraded us to this hotel. We got 3 nights for 125 CAD. Out of curiosity I looked up the normal rate and it seems that 280 a night is common. It is not worth that much. The view from our balcony...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
