We stayed at the Grand China Princess for 4 nights and could not fault the hotel. Accommodation was clean and functional with all services working as they should, the breakfast was extensive with all tastes, both Asian and Western catered for. The hotel is located in Chinatown which is a great spot for shopping with the locals shopping there too....

We recently had our honeymoon in Thailand, and stayed a total of two nights (out of 5 booked) at this hotel. We arrived in Bangkok and stayed here, then went on to an island and returned to this hotel for another night. We were given an upgrade to a "deluxe room" but there was NOTHING deluxe about it other than...

The foyer was very modern with alot of amenities. Booked our tours through them. Concierge was helpful and friendly, staff where you book in were not so welcoming or friendly. Tour organiser was excellent. Rooms were clean but average.

Stayed here for two nights and it was great. Cooked breaky was a bonus, nice and clean. My only gripe was traveling in peak hour, a nightmare for a quick stopover already jet lagged, just as well for the 3 hour Thai massage to help things, so no probes sleeping...

The hotel is located in China Town so I expected quite a bit of hustle and bustle. Given it is in a major city, it was busy, but not in the way I had expected. It was very much a "locals" sort of area and so there were all sorts of businesses selling their wares or services to the locals....

We stayed at the GCP for 3 nights in August, 2011. Lovely hotel, clean rooms, good size, great views, and staff were friendly & helpful..all things considered a very good place to stay. Being right in Chinatown area is great and not far from the river for ferries and a short walk to the train (MRT) for Skytrain connections into...

We stayed for 4 nights and everything was perfect. Room was large and clean. Bathroom just had a shower and no bath but that was good as no water flowed over the floor like most hotels do. Rooms had tea coffee making facilities also. Our room was on the 20th floor and had an amazing view. At night it was...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
