Stunning property nearby the river, epitomising colonial influence and steeped in Thailand's modern history. It's pricey but perhaps the best way to experience a dose of the country's royal heritage... Lovers of literature will appreciate knowing some of the greats have stayed there, too. You'll be greeted in true Thai style with smiles and the wai, and refreshments in the...

I could sum up our stay at this luxury hotel with one word- "WOW"- but specifics are required. We dragged ourselves- sweaty, tired and bedraggled- into this incredibly classy and beautiful hotel and were still treated like royalty. The service was so exceptional that for awhile we actually thought they'd confused us with somebody important! But throughout our stay the...

We spent 3 times a couple of night son our Asia trip at the Mandarin Oriental. It was a super hotel. THe swimming pool is one of the best I have ever seen. The service at the pool is great. The family loved the restaurant across the river. Breakfast at 6 am though was slow and we always started our...

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night only but wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy all the hotel has to offer. Having a meal in their extensive dining area and watching the boats on the river or sitting in the wonderful and large foyer having a drink, admiring the impressive floral arrangement while violins play were two...

I stayed in this hotel in April 2013. I esspacially choose this hotel because of it's perfect location along the River and because the hotel has a nice outdoor Swimming Pool. Breakfast is served along the River, and offers everything you can wish for. In the evening you can also have Buffet at the same location; the Buffet also was...

I had to be in Bangkok for a week to attend a conference. I was booked at another hotel close the conference center but arrived a few days before the conference started. A friend who travels to Bangkok often persuaded me to stay at the Mandarin for two days before checking into the other hotel and I am so glad...

This is a wonderful hotel that I grew up hearing stories about from my parents but didn't have the chance to stay at until now. From the moment we stepped onto the little teak boat at the dock, it was perfect (we didn’t have a lot of luggage so to avoid Bangkok’s demonic rush hour, we took the high speed...

Yep, as hotels go, this is still my favorite one in the world. The location and service make this a hotel to remember. The elegance and sophistication are only part of what makes this hotel special. Service is a word that meets perfection at this property. The Oriental brings to life the spectacular old world Bangkok with a sense of...

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
