We spent four nights here last week and this hotel lived up to all the hype. Wonderful location, beautifully appointed rooms and legendary service. Arrived on a busy Thuraday evening last week to be given flowers and greeted by name as we were stepping out of the taxi! Bags are delivered as formalities are completed in your room. I rang...

As an international frequent traveler, I have stayed in a number of fine hotels and resorts around the globe, but none has ever impressed me as much as the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok. This hotel far surpasses any standard of excellence set by other fine establishments. Upon our arrival in Bangkok, we were warmly greeted by a hotel representative who...

One of the few hotels that you want to plan a vacation just to stay at. The staff were great and went above and beyond to make my whole family feel welcome. Location is right on the river with many good places to eat around the hotel (we did a food tour-not associated with the hotel-and the restaurants we went...

I visited this bar on a Sunday evening, and was treated to an extremely proficient and professional jazz quartet. We are not staying at the hotel, but would recommend the bamboo bar if you want a sophisticated cocktail while you listen to the chilled out jazz band, the mandarin is a beautiful hotel and well worth a visit for a...

I stayed for 2 nights in a River View Room. The service is excellent and staff cannot do enough for you. The bathroom was one of the best I have experienced - 2 basins so great for couples. Beautiful lobby and the restaurant and bars were surprisingly reasonably priced. Free yoga class was great too. The fitness centre is located...

Last time I stayed here, I wasn't sure the Oriental deserved its reputation. This time, I was left in no doubt - this is a world class hotel. Everything was smooth, luxurious and classy. I arrived late at night to a charming and efficient airport welcome, a cocooned limo ride into town, and a friendly, swift check-in done in my...

I have just stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok with my wife and 2 children and was disappointed with having to pay for wifi. The service is excellent. The staff are all very friendly. Our family group of eight traveling from Texas, California, and Louisiana thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The word "excellent" cannot describe our experience. Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
