I have stayed in the Tai-Pan before, so can say that the level of service is consistently good and reliable.
It is very short stroll from Soi Cowboy and Sukumvit Road where a lot of activity happens. Near also to the BTS and MRT rail systems and Terminal 21 which is a major shopping mall and an attraction in itself.
The rooms are large, the bed comfortable and the A/C will cool you down quickly which can be important in Bangkok. The shower water is hot almost as soon as you turn the tap / faucet on, and he shower pressure is epic, which is not always the case in other places.
I booked by phone and paid cash on arrival, instead of using a web booking. Credit card hotel bookings and any credit card use in Thailand can be compromised.

Staffs were very friendly. It did not take much time to check-in. The breakfast was very good at a reasonable price. Considering the price, the room was relatively clean. The location was very good. The transportation/ride was available to the tour attractions at reasonable prices. It has easy access to public transportation such as Sky Train (BTS) and Metro (Subway). The public transportation provides access to most of places (major shopping centers, night entertainments, etc.).

The Tai-Pan Hotel is located close to Soi Cowboy, a well known adult entertainment district, but far enough away to avoid the crowds and associated noise. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well laid out. There is a bar and restaurant onsite with meals well priced. The breakfast buffet was adequate without being expansive. The pool area isn't large and there isn't a poolside bar available. The staff are very friendly and happy to go out of their way to ensure you have an enjoyable stay,

This hotel is old and tired. The bathroom needs serious maintenance. The curtain rod had electrical tape securing it at each end. When i turned on the shower after first arriving, the bathtub spigot unleashed brown water…maybe it was rust from the pipes. The grout is dirty. The entry door to the room is cheaply made and very loud when shut. The walls are thin so you can hear the guests above you and next to you flushing the toilet and taking a shower. The breakfast is sub-par. This is a low budget hotel.

Bed was old and very bouncy, shower cycled from warm to cool every 3 seconds, and the laundry was a complete rip off (Almost 2000 bhat for a medium sized load, and wasn’t even folded). Staff was very polite, good location to activities, decent room otherwise. Wouldn’t recommend overall

I enjoyed my stay at the Tai-Pan Hotel. It is reasonably priced and is in a great location, central to public transport and all Sukhumvit has to offer. Room size is large and comfortable, good bathroom and effective air conditioning. Air con can be a bit noisy but just turn the fan down. Bed a little hard in the room I had. Breakfast is OK for the price. I would stay there again no problem.

What I releafed was that there were no ugly Chinese tourist everywhere in the hotel during my stay. So I could get a comfortable stay. In the hotel room there were a warrnig document which described the list of charges for the equipments of the hotel amenities. I suspected that once chinease stayed here and had stollen every thing in the room. I hope this hotel keep china free environment.

I have stayed at the Tai Pan 4 times over the past two years for 3-4 days on average. This is a great hotel for families and singles alike, who want value for money.

This is a great hotel that can be booked online for 1400bt. The walk in price is 2100bt and they won't discount to less than 1800bt (no breakfast).

The staff are friendly and efficient. I've never had a problem and no nasty surprises in the rooms (vermin). Rooms are clean and well maintained.

The breakfast is pretty good. I normally hate those all inclusive warm buffet breakfasts you get in thailand as they are inedible but this is one of the few exceptions.

I have always left my valuables in the safe, (passport, tickets and 1000's of Euro) and never have had any problems.

The hotel is near soi cowboy and you pass this street on the way to the skytrain. This isn't really an issue as it's all pretty tame and quiet. In fact I think my wife and travelling companions rather enjoyed the imagined sleaze of the area.

I stayed at the Tai Pan Hotel from Sept 5th - 12th 2005. It was a very pleasant experience. The Hotel staff were very easy to deal with and made my stay a very pleasant one. Close to alot of shopping and night life. When I visit Bangkok again I will most likely stay here. Very clean and the food was great. Buffet breakfast was better than in the US. Thanks for an enjoyable time in Bangkok. Joe

I booked this hotel based on its reviews on Tripadvisor. Perhaps a bit naive, but I ended up between basically nothing but sex tourists and prostitutes. There is a sort of escort bar near the left entrance. My bed was not clean. I left after 1 night instead of 3 and got 1 refunded, after a phone call from Booking.com however.
