Distance is approximately 1.5km from Sukosol Hotel to Platinum Mall, and should take about 20 minutes walking time. Bear in mind that it is very hot and humid most of the time but as we had never visited Bangkok before, we were happy to stroll along at our own pace viewing the surroundings on the way.
It is safe and there's proper sidewalks and overhead bridge to help with road crossing. Didn't see much street food around the hotel but it's easy to take the BTS to nearby station with more food options.
