My partner and I chose to stay at Chinatown Hotel because it had decent reviews, a good location in the heart of Chinatown (with delicious street food right outside the door and just a short walk to the MRT) and a good price. However, we got exactly what we paid for: the staff were generally disinterested, our "superior" room was...

The best thing about this hotel it's the location, super close to the train station, temples, food and you can easily pick the boat with a 5 min walk. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms quite old.

Reception staff efficient and sort-of pleasant. Quick access to room. At room was first slight problem....door does not open fully, as sliding door to bathroom would be damaged. So a floor-level stopper causes door to rebound at you if you forget and open rather quickly. Next....in-room safe was faulty, and took quite a while to rectify. Otherwise....average sized room, clean...

We were very happy with service in restaurant. We walked in off the street and were shown to a table direct. The food was really tasty and most of the staff were friendly. They had no problem to making my meal vegan.

Basic hotel with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, with a window on the 5th floor that fully opens! At the time of my visit there was a Chinese s vegetarian street market that served food from midday until 10 at night when the famous shark fin resturant across the street . Very conveniently situated with a...

Our stay was great. We only booked for 2 nights, and planned to check other hotels for the rest of our stay. After our first night we extended the booking for the rest of our stay in Bangkok. Very friendly and helpful people at the reception. Spacious room with a decent bathroom and toilet. The breakfast buffet was awesome, good...

This hotel is well located as a base for exploration of Yaowarat (Chinatown) area. The price is friendly but/because the hotel is rather aged. However it's clean enough. The room is equipped with the usual amenities, including an in-room safe and a mini bar - not bad for the price. The shower was adequate (very important in Bangkok) even though...

I spend a lot of time choosing my hotel before I travel and I wasn't disappointed with this one. Location is everything for me: walking distance to places of interest, the train system and good food options. The room is a good size, as is the bathroom and everything works, A small bar fridge to keep your supplies in plus...

Arrived 2 days ago as a stop over before moving onto Koh Samui. Nice enough hotelin the centre of chinatown. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is clean and our room was cleaned everyday even though we were only here for 2 nights. Room we had was basic but just what we needed to be honest.

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
