The New Siam II Guesthouse is a great location. It's very close to Khao San Road/Rambuttri, but you can still get away from the madness and have a quiet room. It's a great location to the river for getting the river boat tours (Grand Palace, etc). The room was clean, with a fan and a/c, had a security box and...

Stayed here in January 2012 right at the start of a three month trip. Not a huge amount of atmosphere, but simple, clean rooms and good location, close to ferry pier, close (but not too close) to Khao San Road. Small but very welcome swimming pool was perfect after a long day trekking the street of Bangkok. It's certainly not...

We stayed at the New Siam in Bangkok three nights. The room is big enough, serviced if you ask and there was even a curtain shower! Great place for the price. We appreciated the pool, though alittle shocking when you jump in. I don't recommend breakfast there. The morning girls are slow and their attitude is not inviting. And they...

I stayed here my first week in Thailand and my last few days before flying out. The staff has a lot on their hands as it is a large place, but everyone is so professional and friendly that they made it look easy. And you don't feel lost in the crowd here, by the second day the desk staff memorized...

We've stayed here twice - both times that we visited Bangkok. The hotel has expanded since the first time we stayed in 2004, it well run and managed. The rooms are good, the staff are great, the restaurant is a good place to hang out on your laptop or reading or eating. There is a handy shortcut through to Khao...

Looking for a convenient hotel in Banglampu? New Siam II is your place. Since 2002 i have been here for the sixth time. Nothing changed in THE rooms or services. Simply good. Although the hotel has doubled size since 2009. Simple rooms, good location, rest and good staff and food in restaurant downstairs. My tip: book in advance via website...

I stayed at the New Siam II for a few days and absolutely thought that the facilities and location were excellent. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had very nice hot water. The pool is a little awkwardly placed and doesn't offer much space for sitting out or even get much sun. I would have really liked the guesthouse except...

We paid 790 baht per night for a double air-con room. We didnt really need the aircon though. The room was lovely - very clean and comfortable with lots of space and even a dressing table and big mirror! The bathroom was very basic and in need of a revamp but it was adequate. It is a very busy hotel...

Been to Bangkok 3 times in last couple of years and we have always stayed in this hotel (twice also with kids). Capacity has been extended with new building, but we stayed in the old part, so I cannot judge on the new rooms. Old ones are basic but they still serve the purpose. Restaurant serves good food for fair...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
