Since I stayed at the Malaysia they have restored. Still the same good hotel with all the facilities I had use for. Basic but nice rooms. Nice outdoor swimmingpool. Restaurant 24 hours. Good massage. Close to everything. MRT is walking distance. Nice and friendly staff. Next time in Bangkok it will be the Malaysia.

I stayed 19-25 Feb 2017. They have painted the place, and redone the rooms. I was happy. It is located near the underground train system. I love the food here many locals eat here at night. I recommend it

The venerable Malaysia Hotel recently changed hands and there have been welcome changes like a remodeled carpark and a colourful facade that gives the place a 21st century appearance. Inevitably, improvements come at a cost. Rooms are now more expensive and the price of every item in the restaurant menu has been increased! Traditionally, a significant proportion of the Malaysia...

I am staying at Malaysia hotel, and they give you free wifi only for 1 device. I just find is a bit surprising, especially in 21 century. Plus they do not state that on their website, they just say you get free wifi, but there is note, it's only for 1 device. I believe that most people will have a...

Good old Malaysia Hotel got upgraded, fresh paint, flash exterior, nice smoking area, new lifts, new tv's. Still the same feeling of home, the friendly same staff whom I see ever year. Restaurant still there with its excellent food, as are the turtle and fish. The massage parlour is under new management, prices higher and quality worse. I always love...

Because of the hustle and bustle in Tokyo. I wanted to go on a short trip to relax. I was able to accomplish that. Staff are still the same, very courteous and accommodating. They go above and beyond my expectation. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because of the wear and tear of the property that needs...

Several reviewers have mentioned the historical aspects of this Dowager of wanderers/seekers. The current renovations are welcome: new lift, renovated spa, and color-scheme face lift inside and out (quirky!). At least one reviewer has denigrated the wifi service; however, I have found that the management make every effort to rectify. Limited TV Channels. Pluses are the variety of cuisines in...

When you stay at the Malaysia let your mind wander back to the thousands of fellow travellers who have frequented the area since the 1970s. This area was the original Ko San Road when backpackers were proper travellers on a journey of self discovery not gap year students out to party. Think of all the characters the hippies, Vietnam Vets,...

For those who have been to Bangkok before you will know that peace and quiet in a hotel is premium. You can go up the 84 floor Baiyoke Sky to escape the noise but finding an oasis at ground level is harder. Fortunately I found this gem of a place, not far from Lumpini Park and the underground train system....

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
