First stayed in this hotel in August 2010 upon recommendation by a friend who travelled to Bangkok with his partner. I love their restaurant and the local food they serve. Although it is a haven for LGBT travellers, I could say that it has added to the charm of this place. Internet is not free though - and I think...

I booked this online, the hotel is located near the Lumpini MRT. The hotel is clean and has a swimming pool. The room I was offered was very large with two big beds. The AC was effective and overall cleanliness was good. The hotel has a restaurant which offers decent food but I guess it is a bit overpriced. The...

I really don't mind the worn look of the place, since it's clean and good service. The price for a double room here is equal to two dorm room beds (without windows or a desk) on the main tourist street, so I've stayed here multiple times! Love having my own space. Staff is friendly enough, and I felt safe as...

Used to use this hotel when working in Bangkok in the eighties as it was cheap, clean and conveniently located, if a little on the seedy side. Stopped by recently when in Bangkok for 1 night, as a trip down memory lane - and was amazed to find that it hasn't changed a bit! It's still there, still the same...

I see previous reviews using the words dated, and faded, and I agree, but what is wrong with something reminding us of the past even if a little worn. The Malaysia continues to be my favourite hotel despite lack of upgrading and renovation. The words vintage and retro come more to mind with this grand old lady of Bangkok. Where can you get...

Basic accommodation at basic price. If it's a lower price room in fairly convenient location is what you're looking for, this place will do. Restaurant seems a little overpriced and the food and portions left me feeling unsatisfied.

I don't understand, why this place gets any positive reviews at all. Everything is dated, the staff is indifferent at best and approximately a third of the patrons bring a "guest" over night to which the hotel turns a blind eye (and which is supposedly the reason for the high ratings). Worst of all is the wifi, for which you...

Very comfortable and functional. A short walk from Lumpini MRT station. Friendly, helpful staff. Hot shower and good a/c. Decent 24hr restaurant on ground floor. Massage available on ground floor. 7-11 nearby for daily essentials. such as water and snacks. Also sells SIM cards and phone credit top ups. Close to Babylon for gay visitors. Only problem was with booking....

"Your home in Bangkok" I've heard it called although our gang used to call it "The Hotel California" !!! The Superior rooms are good & the Deluxe rooms are great. The rooms in the new wing are even better. Great food too & with 24 hour room service ..... it's just really a very good place. Good staff too &...

It was a surprise booking by an acquaintance and definitely not the kind of place I would have preferred. Old, dated, though some might say charming and vintage - not really, to be honest. Guests are also mostly seniors, whom might like a place like this. Staff are friendly and attentive though, especially in the restaurant, where the food was...

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
