The abrasive bloke who didn't seem very friendly. He kept demanding we left our small backpack and handbag with passports and all the cash in it at the "reception" for us to have a look at a room. Not a chance.

I was here for a day stay between the arrival of my train and departure of my flight. I can't say it was horrible, but it wasn't anywhere I would stay too long at either. It did the job as I really needed somewhere to store bags and nap for a bit after a long train ride. Location is convenient...

This essence of this classic old Oriental style dolly hasn't changed since my first stay 40 years ago...that's exactly why I would always recommend it to the hard core street level traveler. Fantastic location across from Hualompong Rail Station...steps away across from China Town and the Main PO in Bang Rak..after you wander over a curved ancient khlong. The area...

This hostel was OK. The service was OK. You get what you pay for. I had no beefs here. Would probably recommend staying closer to khao san though.

This is a place aimed at the Asian market, and as such is very cheap for Bangkok but western visitors may find it hard to cope with the lack of plug sockets, brusque service, Asian squat toilet and bucket shower. The bed and sheets however are clean, as is the bathroom, so it's perfect if you need to be at...

Stayed at the Sri Hualampong a few years ago. I've travelled extensively through SE Asia since 2001 and try not to complain about accommodation - it's all part of the experience and enjoyment - but this place was an absolute dive. Rooms dirty - particularly the bathroom floor, on which one stands to shower, beds so hard they could be...

I stayed at Sri Hualamphong Hotel for a couple of nights two years ago, and I definitely would recommend it to any independent, non-fussy traveler on a budget. I paid about 250 baht ($5 at the time) for my own room (with bathroom); it wasn't luxurious or well-lit, but it was clean, and that was what mattered to me. It's...

I stayed at the S.H.H. near Hualamphong train station in Bangkok for 1 night in the middle of februari 2006. I checked in at 04.30 in the morning, the "main" entrance was locked and I had to walk up a staircase to the right to the 2:nd floor. Two fellows were sitting at a table, I signed in and payed...
