As a solo traveler, I look for a central place as well as a fair price (-: I was lucky enough to find them both in this lovely guesthouse. It has a new owner now and soon it'll be renamed - The Three King Guesthouse. It's going through some detailed renovations at the moment, which add to this place's natural... More

This place is just great. Excellent location near walking street, very quiet which is very important to me as I do not sleep well with any street noises etc, the staff take great care of rooms, the breakfast is wonderful and the owner (Nooch) helps guests with everything they need. After staying at many GH, this is bar far the... More

We arrived late at night after a long journey from Laos. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. We took a double room with air conditioning on the top floor. The bathroom was dirty and there were ants crawling everywhere. Since it was already 23:00 at night we decided to spend the night and leave in the morning. During the night... More

We spent 3 nights at Kavil Guest House. The owners are some of the friendliest people we've met here. Unfortunately we were very sick during our stay (Influenza), but the very friendly elderly couple helped us as much as they could, even called a tuc tuc to the hospital, and constantly made us tea. Bookings for several events/tours are possible... More

PLEASE be careful when you book- there is no way to book this place online. We tried and accidentally booked Kavil Guesthouse 2, which is down the road. We were incredibly disappointed when we arrived as Kavil 2 was not good. We did visit Kavil and the folks were friendly, but did not have a room for us. Pretty disappointing.... More

A very good experience. Room was clean and pleasant, staff very friendly and helpful. Within walking distance to lots of cool things. Fairly quiet area. Has a small restaurant, and plenty of other food options nearby.

Ditto what everyone else has said. Great location, great owners and staff, great rooms, great price. Top floor rooms are particularly nice - so light and airy with views to mountains. Loads of lovely little cafes and a laundry on the soi. Cheapest food/drink I saw in chiang mai. Stay here, you won't be sorry.

Just left Kavil Guesthouse after a lovely 9 days. Chiang Mai is a beautiful city and Kavil is the perfect base to explore it from. The location is unbeatable, right in the Old City next to the Sunday Walking Street. The owners (I think) are incredible- they have been so helpful, organizing activities and tours, recommending restaurants and massages. They... More

I cannot say enough about Mr Gerard and his family running the best guesthouse in Thailand. I came here 4 years ago for a few nights so I had to return only to receive even better hospitality. Here is what we encountered: - great prices for private rooms in the center of where you want to be in Chiang Mai... More

“Most of the rooms would be good but I would say to get one near to the middle or front for cool and quiet. If you get one above the dining room or kitchen then you will hear some sounds from the open windows.”

“For two Persons is B1 really good, the beds are better than in C2. We were there, because first we traveled with three persons. The room is bigger gut the beds are harder.”

“We stayed in the Gecko Room (it had a massive gecko print on the wall) located on the first floor. It looked out on to the sleepy Soi 5 and we did not have any problems with background noise from the street. The air con was very effective! The wifi was fast and far better than a 5* we'd stayed in previously. The staff were friendly and helpful.”
