.I was walking down a quiet lane looking for my next place to stay in Chiang Mai and was greeted by a friendly hello from the 2 women at reception in the Kavil Guesthouse. That was sufficient for me to turn in (I often rely on my instincts) and make inquiries regarding the accommodation there. Nook the owner was more...

Bernie, Thank you so much for your nice comments. It was a pleasure to be your host, and both Roger and I enjoyed your company. We have discussed you several times since you stayed with us, and are wondering what you are doing and where you might be. We are hopeful that you might return one day and have the...

Kavil – The Hidden Jewel in Chiang Mai I travel regularly throughout SEA and especially through northern Thailand. Chiang Mai, to me, is unbeatable for gaining a sense of what Thailand really is. Its lush green mountains, clean air, clear fresh waterfalls and friendly people make it a joy to visit. I have travelled there by plane, train and bus,...

As a solo traveler, I look for a central place as well as a fair price (-: I was lucky enough to find them both in this lovely guesthouse. It has a new owner now and soon it'll be renamed - The Three King Guesthouse. It's going through some detailed renovations at the moment, which add to this place's natural...

We arrived late at night after a long journey from Laos. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. We took a double room with air conditioning on the top floor. The bathroom was dirty and there were ants crawling everywhere. Since it was already 23:00 at night we decided to spend the night and leave in the morning. During the night...

We spent 3 nights at Kavil Guest House. The owners are some of the friendliest people we've met here. Unfortunately we were very sick during our stay (Influenza), but the very friendly elderly couple helped us as much as they could, even called a tuc tuc to the hospital, and constantly made us tea. Bookings for several events/tours are possible...

PLEASE be careful when you book- there is no way to book this place online. We tried and accidentally booked Kavil Guesthouse 2, which is down the road. We were incredibly disappointed when we arrived as Kavil 2 was not good. We did visit Kavil and the folks were friendly, but did not have a room for us. Pretty disappointing....

A very good experience. Room was clean and pleasant, staff very friendly and helpful. Within walking distance to lots of cool things. Fairly quiet area. Has a small restaurant, and plenty of other food options nearby.

Ditto what everyone else has said. Great location, great owners and staff, great rooms, great price. Top floor rooms are particularly nice - so light and airy with views to mountains. Loads of lovely little cafes and a laundry on the soi. Cheapest food/drink I saw in chiang mai. Stay here, you won't be sorry.
