Nestled in the heart of Chiang Mai, Meliá Chiang Mai garners praise for its excellent location, a stone's throw away from the night market. While opinions on value vary, with some guests finding room upgrades pricey, the spacious and modern rooms, especially The Level experience, are applauded for their comfort.
The hotel's cleanliness is widely celebrated, with every corner from rooms to public spaces kept spotless. Amenities such as the luxurious pool and rooftop bar with panoramic views receive high marks, as does the exceptional service that makes the hotel's atmosphere both chic and welcoming.

*RATING 10/10* You can tell it's a Spanish network. The first thing the location of the hotel can not be better, inside the whole center , 100m from the night market, a few meters from the river, with lots of markets with food trucks and take away. The second the pool (towels, bar, spa) an attention of 10. The third is breakfast, with a huge variety adapted internationally but especially with Spanish breakfast (churros, ham and tomato toast, eggs, bacon, thais soups and noodles..). The employees many spoke Spanish, polite and respectful as everyone. Finally the rooms, modern, with all kinds of utensils (dryer, gowns, slippers, minibar...) RECOMMENDED

Melia hotel is the best hotel that i stayed at in Thailand. The room i had was modern, clean and spacious. Staffs were friendly, helpful, professional and they always greet you with a smile.
But what i like the most in Melia Chiang mai is their lobby with amazing interior design. They used thai culture as their inspiration when they were designing arcs, walls, and planning their furnitures. Its like a museum in a way. The moment you stepped inside you will know that your in Thailand and not just another hotel you know.
Food was amazing. I've been to Thailand 3x and ill say they gave thai food a new twist, mixture of flavors with amazing presentation. The balance between crunch, sweet, spicy and such was really amazing. Next was the bar. I love rooftop bars but from what i researched Melia seems to be the only one with 360 bar. I didnt stayed much but it was beautiful and chill. I also wanna add the amazing show i watched next to Melia on the right side if you go out. I accidentally saw it and they had the best night themed show i saw in Thailand. And the last one was location wise. Its in an accessible area as well, in the city and also near the old one.

This is a rather new hotel in the middle of Chiang Mai, in an extremely good location almost directly on the river. We were able to check in to the Level Lounge due to our The Level booking. There were drinks of your choice and an extremely professional check-in procedure. The Level rooms are in excellent condition and spacious. These are located in an extra building. The service at TheLevel is excellent. In the lounge you can enjoy breakfast, tea time and cocktails in the evening (snacks are always available) . You are very warmly looked after here. The pool area is also impressive, but is quickly crowded as it is quite small. The gym is well equipped and sparsely attended. There is a small children's area with a slide and water elements. The breakfast in the main restaurant we only took once, because it gets quite quick and too crowded here. The choice at breakfast is good but not outstanding. We can highly recommend the hotel, especially the value for money is sensational.

Lovely hotel it’s a bit outside the old town but it’s still easy to get there using grab/bolt/Tuk Tuk but the location is actually excellent as there is a night market with loads of great food every night outside the hotel so you can eat there super cheap! Warning the clothes etc are more expensive at the night market! Cheaper in the town and Bangkok. Cheap massages on the road near the night market next to hotel.
Pool is nice, very quiet. Currently closes at 7 but after 5 is pretty much empty. Mainly in shade due to hotel building behind. Gym is good and open 24 hours
Rooms are very nice. Shower feature is quirky :p (iykyk). Beds comfy. Tv that you can cast to from your phone which was great to watch Netflix etc
Breakfast was nice, low key but plenty of choice in line with other hotel buffets. Comfy casual style seating but gets a bit cramped if sat next to the food, best tables near window.
Didn’t actually end up using the sky bar but I’m sure it’s nice if you fancy a drink though
Good hotel I would recommend.
To get from airport we paid the 150 bht fixed price for a taxi which you can do in baggage claim and arrivals.

We have just checked out of the Melia in Chiang Mai after staying here for 5 nights. My fiancé and I have had a truly special time here and we cannot thank the staff enough for everything they have done, from greeting us at the door every time we returned back to the hotel to helping us with whatever it may be! The staff here are truly one of a kind and will go out of their way to help you.
On our first day there, it was rather eventful to say the least, I had gone to a local spa and my fiancé came to pick me up after my treatment and on his way, got bitten by a dog (after accidentally stepping on its tail). The staff at the hotel were beyond helpful, especially Fluke. As soon as we got back to tell them what happened, Fluke arranged for immediate first aid for him, whilst we waited for the taxi to arrive that he had called for us. Fluke arranged for us to go straight to the international hospital and checked in on us once we were back. My fiancé has to continue going back to hospital for several more doses of jabs and Fluke has even rang around for the rest of our time in Thailand, organising where is best/cheapest for us to go to have this jab. Without the help of the staff there, we wouldn’t have got all of this sorted.
The rooms at the Melia are clean, spacious and comfortable. We were also lucky enough to stay in one of the suites for 2 nights where we had access to ‘The Level’ on floor 21, where we enjoyed complimentary afternoon tea and canapés/cocktails daily, which was a lovely touch.
The YHI Spa was also a highlight for me as I enjoyed some treatments here, which I thought were extremely reasonable compared to some other hotel prices.
We loved how close it was to the Night Market which is literally at the back of the hotels car park! We went here every night for dinner and loved the atmosphere, food and local music!
Overall, we couldn’t recommend Melia enough and would definitely come back to stay again!

Dear Lauren-mei98, Thank you for choosing Meliá Chiang Mai for your stay and for sharing such a wonderful and detailed review of your experience. We are deeply touched to hear how special your stay was and how our staff, especially Fluke, made a positive impact on your visit following the unfortunate incident. It' is our highest priority to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests, and we are glad we could assist during that stressful time. We are thrilled you found your room, including the suite and its exclusive access to 'The Level,' to be clean, spacious, and comfortable, enhancing your stay with us. It is also great to know you enjoyed the complimentary offerings and found our YHI Spa treatments to be of great value. Your comments on our hotel's location highlight one of our best features. Being just steps away from the Night Market. Your high recommendation means the world to us, and we eagerly look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay. We have been frequent guests at the Melia Chiang Mai, having visited three times in less than a month. Our primary consideration when choosing your hotel was the balance between price and quality, compared to other five-star hotels in the city.
The hotel’s aesthetics are pleasing, and the staff is generally professional. However, the rooms are notably smaller than those offered by competitors such as Intercontinental and Marriott Chiang Mai. The bathrooms are also cramped, and the noise insulation is inadequate, allowing sound from above to penetrate the rooms, particularly during the night. Additionally, the toilets from the rooms above and below are connected, resulting in audible noises when the latter is used. However, the view from the room is very pleasant.
The breakfast offerings are underwhelming. The limited selection of options for a hotel of this caliber is disappointing. The only vegan all-day dining option was frequently “sold out” as early as 2 p.m., forcing us to leave the hotel in search of alternative dining options. The pizza I ordered was unfortunately severely undercooked.
The happy hour is located downstairs at the lobby bar, which overlooks the driveway. The rationale for not relocating this to the rooftop bar, which offers panoramic views of Chiang Mai, remains unclear.
The pool is small and easily overcrowded, failing to provide a relaxing atmosphere for unwinding. The pool was closed once during our stay for a photoshoot which was not communicated beforehand. The gymnasium, while equipped with most of the necessary amenities, is only accessible via stairs and is also quite cramped.
Despite some of the shortcomings, based on our experience, we would return. Though, with so much hotels on offer in Chiang Mai, i’d rather explore other hotels in the future.

Dear DL0044, Thank you for your valuable feedback and for being a frequent guest at Meliá Chiang Mai. We are pleased to hear that you appreciate the aesthetics of our hotel and the professionalism of our staff, and we are delighted that these aspects contributed to your positive experience. We would like to extend our sincerely apologize for the areas of your stay that did not meet your expectations, including the noise disturbance and breakfast offerings. Your comments are important to us, and we will certainly review them to make improvements. However, please allow me to provide some clarification that our breakfast offerings include fresh orange juice, a wide range of beverages, a salad bar, a pastry corner, rotating international hot dishes, and more. We would greatly appreciate it if you could provide us with more specific details regarding your breakfast experience so that we can improve our offerings and better serve our guests. Thank you once again for choosing to stay with us and we would love the opportunity to welcome you back for an even more enjoyable stay. Warm regards, Paphatsawan Komarvut Guest Experience

Very large hotel with attention to design and hospitality. Very professional, kind and polite staff. Very nice rooms, modern, original design, clean with European standards. Lacking the elevators (a little 'few 2 by twenty floors). Very nice although a bit expensive restaurant on the terrace. Restaurant on the international ground floor buffet not typical. Very central and strategic location near the night bazaar where you can dine well with traditional Thai cuisine on a budget.

This was a really good hotel with some very well trained staff. We did have some confusion over an extra bed that wasted a bit of my time but that wasn’t a big deal in the end.
The platinum corner room was really comfortable and two children can sleep on the sofa bed - but they will want to charge 1000 baht ++ for any more than one bed set (the confusion issue). I can’t fault the room to be fair.
The ceilings in the corridor are ridiculously low and it feels a little claustrophobic because of this. Anyone over 6 feet tall needs to watch out for the water outlets and cameras on the roof.
We didn’t have a breakfast inclusive rate so no idea what it’s like.
The hotel appears to specialise in the travelling coach tour party market. We weren’t inconvenienced by this but it definitely devalues a hotel when they take in large parties of package tourists.
The pool is really nice and well maintained and managed. One of the best.
The location is perfect. Out of the side door and turn left into the car park and in 50m you are in a mega night market. Music, food and a chance to browse - great fun.
Many laundries surround the hotel.
One complaint - we never got any creamer when the maid came (all 3 days). English breakfast tea was also not provided normally.
I’d definitely stay again at this one with the slight concern that the package tourists may be noisy.

Despite only staying here for two nights, it was long enough to determine the hotel and in particular the staff were of a high standard.
I booked a 'Level Premium Room' as a couple and on arrival, we were escorted to the Level Lounge for the check in formalities and then taken to our room.
The room itself was modern, light, spotlessly clean and very spacious with a high ceiling. There were no issues with noise internally or externally which enabled a good sleep.
The location is fine and a short walk through the car park takes you to the night bazaar with other sights - in particular the multitude of temples and Tha Phae Gate - are all within walking distance of the hotel.
The food and drinks offered in the Level Lounge in the evening were very good as was the breakfast which we took in the main restaurant at ground floor level.
All the staff we encountered were amazing - in particular Lalita who made the effort to engage with lounge guests and a big shout out to Fluke at concierge who sorted out a trip for us after being let down by a tour company for a trip we tried to arrange ourselves.
Incidentally, the the tour company the hotel utilises for their guests is excellent.
Due to our short stay, we were unable to use all of the facilities, however, we hope to return to Chiang Mai in the future and The Melia will be our first choice of accommodation.

New, clean, functional and tasteful - fantastic use of wood and modern materials to combine traditional and modern. Superb interiors, huge rooms, modern showers (with scale and nice huge towels). The best thing is that the room has two (very quiet) A/Cs, and so you can choose which to use - preventing having it blowing directly onto your head in the desk/sitting area (as is the case in 99% of hotels I have stayed in so far). Breakfast international, Thai plus more, and have a gluten-free choice of bread, and muffins. Nice swimming pool and meeting rooms. Staff friendly, curious, efficient. Value for money. I will be back.
