Our stay at the 137 Pillars House was top-shelf. The hotel grounds are beautiful and our room was fantastic - comfortable, nicely furnished, great bath tub and indoor/outdoor shower and a large comfortable patio. The on-site bar is a nice, cozy bonus. The hotel is located

This hotel was both charming and elegant. The rooms are nestled around a beautiful courtyard with gorgeous landscaping. In the morning, you can hear the birds while having your morning coffee on the spacious deck. Our butler, Nicole was one of a kind. She was so attentive,

The highlight of this hotel is the historic house on property. It was formerly used by the Borneo Trading Company and is now used as the main dining room and bar. It just oozes history and charm. The service here was top notch and it’s very close to town and the night markets.

How well can you cater to vegans please?
Thailand is a religious country. As such some Buddhist are vegetarians, and dairy isn’t a staple of the Thai diet so vegan meals aren’t hard to come by.

We tipped housekeeping daily (since who makes up your room could change each day) - don't remember how much ($5?), but guidance was provided beforehand by our travel agent. Didn't think we'd have any use for a butler, and hardly used the one provided @ the Intercontinental in Danang, but "Toto" was so wonderful that we wrote to his manager to commend him after we returned (& left him a very good tip). He would appear w/things we didn't know we needed (i.e., a bag of supplies to take to the Elephant Sanctuary) & actually enrolled us in the airlines' frequent flyer program so that we wouldn't incur excess weight charges! If you are lucky enough to have him, give him our very best (Tom & Delene from San Francisco). LOVED Chiang Mai & 137 Pillars!
