For starters Nui is as an absolute sweetheart, she was so knowledgable and helpful. We only had a short amount of time in Chiang Mai and she helped us plan our trip to make the most of it. Everyone there was really friendly and made us feel right at home. It's location is perfect, a couple of minutes walk and...

Me and my boyfriend stayed at BaanSongJum during our time in Chiang Mai. We had booked for 3 days, ended up staying 10 days all in all. And I seriously don't know how to highlight this place enough. The owner Nui (Parichart) is the sweetest and kindest person I've met on our travels. Both she and the house have such...

Our stay in Baan Songjum was very comfortable, it is more then 100 year old ancestral house very beautifully done with all the artifacts in the outdoor seating area which inscribe a characters to it, it has got so much more personality than any other B&B accommodation. You can feel the warmth and the cozy comfort of being at home....

Our room was clean and quiet. We liked the garden under the old teak house, and the plants collection is just stunning. Breakfast was self service, nice selection of breads, jams, tea and coffee. Hosts were helpful, gave us free english map and good tips on Chiangmai and its surroundings. Baan SongJum is nested in a little alley just across...

The owner and her sister are very friendly and will do everything possible to help you. They treated us like our mothers so we felt very welcomed and secure at their place. They gave us some tips on things to visit around the city and the cost of taxi/bus so we wouldn't be scammed. They even shared some of their...

We were supposed to stay 7 days but only stayed one night. The Trip Advisor reviews raved about this place but I'm mystified as to why. For 1150 baht per night we got a run-down room with a major insect and rodent problem. Breakfast was self-serve toast and jam. The staff were helpful when we were looking for restaurants and...

Nui, the owner, has got to be the friendliest woman in all of Thailand. From the moment I arrived she wanted to help me see/do/plan whatever it is that I wanted to see/do/plan in Chiang Mai (and other places in Thailand too). Her English is excellent. The rooms are basic, but adequate. The common area is a relaxing place to...

What a lovely place! Very homey and comfortable. The location is a bit off center, but wasn't much of an issue for us. Preparing our own breakfast was actually fun after traveling for a long time, and there were always tasty fruits to enjoy. The owner is super nice and very helpful.

The rooms are modern and clean, with a private bathroom and shower in each. We rented a fan room during the hottest part of the year (against the host's recommendation-wish we had listened to her!) and were happy to be there. So fun and relaxing to sit under the Thai wooden house in the central courtyard and have a cup...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hi my name is Parichart. Everyone calls me Nui. They said my real name is too long and difficult to pronounce. I used to lived and worked in Bangkok more than 30 years. Now I am back to my hometown and I am stay at Baan SongJum , my birthplace. No one lives in this house for 4 years so I though I have to maintain and renovated this house. People always asked what does it mean Baan Songjum . The meaning is House of Good Memories. Why's that? Because this house has a long histories of one gentleman from Shan State Burma. My grandfather who built this house . He used to work in the jungle north of Thailand and Burma with his British company. He loved wood special Teak . All house is man made and use only axe to curve all pillars. Every year student from Chiangmai University comes to see my house. Because Baan Songjum was one of the Lanna Teak wood house in Chiangmai. Main house is big and made by teak wood . Guests allow to see the structure of the house and I will show all the pillars and photos of my grand parents in old days in the jungle . And I will tell the stories of the houses and Wat Ket our area. Now I change private house to be Homestay for people who come to visit Chiangmai feel comfortable like stay with friend. Every guest can relax and take their breakfast when they wake up . And feel like they are in comfortable place and good feelings. ... more   less
