We stayed in Potae’s House for just a night as we made our way to Chiang Kong. The staff were extremely helpful in organising our bus to Chiang Kong and gave great advice on the best companies to use. The rooms are sweet; the beds are sectioned off with curtains so you do get a sense of privacy in the shared dorms. The showers and loo’s are the nicest we’ve come across so far in all the hostels we’ve stayed in. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, it may differ but we got passion fruit which was very nice.

Nice stay here in Chiang Mai! Potae, the owner, is very kind and can give you some tips for visiting the area :) The house is nicely located, just next to the city center and 2 minutes walk from the North gate. There is also a cute cat that will love to play with you ;)

Potae is amazing - passionate and knowledge about getting you the best experience. She is very helpful with helping you book or plan your adventures around Chiang Mai, given they are ethical. We had heard of some activities to do in the area (Night Safari, Tiger Kingdom), which she steered us clear of. She did provide a great option/tour for an elephant park. The hostel itself has a few private rooms and share rooms, all with shared bathrooms. We were in a private room. Everything was mostly clean, but you could tell things were a bit old (pilling on the sheets, discolored towels). Amenities were as expected for the price point.

Cheap and great hostel, probably the best we stayed in the whole trip around Thailand. The staff was always helpful and they got us tours with discount. The rooms are quite big and the breakfast is included in the price

After a crazy week in Laos I was looking around for clean, comfortable stay and this place did not disappoint! Hostel was immaculately clean, big comfy beds and dorm itself was spacious and not too hot. Was in a 10 bed dorm. Lockers for valuables etc, showers were clean with good water pressure. Breakfast was ok, fruit, toast and coffee, but considering it's free i was happy. Location was good, most sights/attractions/resteraunts within walking distance. The owner Potae was incredibly kind and helpful, even took the time to sit outside with me on my first night and have a chat which made me feel very welcome. Other member of staff was very nice too. Booked a scooter/muay Thai/bus ticket through hostel, all of which were great and very reasonably priced. A fantastic stay, and would definitely return if I'm back in Chiang Mai! Many thanks from Will! X

I was initially very excited to stay at Potaes House the reviews were stellar. My friend and I were extremely disappointed and left very upset. I had to pay for towel use and also give a deposit- why should you pay for a towel you return? When we asked nicely if they could turn the ac temperature down they said it was fine and another american was ok with the temperature... why were we generalized? We were told we could go down and ask if we were still bothered. We went down later to ask if they could turn down the temperature and the office was closed. The temperature of the supposedly air conditioned room was 3 degrees cooler than the outside temperature... I was hot all night. The pole for my bed kept falling off onto my head and the comforter was very itchy. In the morning we expected breakfast and the only thing was toast- I don’t think that’s a full breakfast especially when you advertise it this way. The whole building was hot even though there was AC in the building, it just wasn’t turned on. In the morning we asked for help booking a plane ticket and they said there were no planes to Phuket... when there most certainly are. We also left a day early and asked for a refund of some sort and the employee said we paid so they don’t refund and told us we could speak to the owner Potae. When we asked if she could come or we could see her she kept repeating “I don’t know, ask Potae.” Clearly she didn’t want to deal with anything. We tried to give feedback and were not in any way rude and were met with a lot of sarcasm, sass and disregard. I will never stay again or recommend to anyone. The only positive was the fact that there was local fruit for breakfast, the showers and bathrooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable.

I really liked my stay at Potae’s House. The room was clean with large beds (however they were quite noisy). The owner was really nice and was super communicative via email. I loved that she provided fresh fruit in the morning - especially passion fruit which is my absolute favorite.

Good location, friendly staff ready to help me and make recommendations. I slept in a 4-bed dormitory but was the only one in the room, so it was very quiet. Poor self-service breakfast but convenience stores nearby.

This was my first ever stay in a hostel with dormitories and it was a good experience.. we shared a 10 bed dormitory at a decent price Only problem that I faced was with the pillows as they were not at all comfortable and quite thick in size.. also they did not provide any towels on their own They provide few breakfast which is quite limited though and have a nice sharing toilet though their seemed to be some blockage issues in their shower area and they should look into that Nice sitting area outside the reception facing the street and moat where one can eat breakfast and even smoke.. they also provide a locker to all occupants and was a comfortable stay overall
