We booked in for four nights. Pros: * Great location just off the central square. Lots of restaurants around and easy to get anywhere * Good free WiFi in the rooms * Large rooms and bed * Powerful hot shower * TV with international channels * Fridge * Daily towel change and bed makeup * Nice staff and an awesome resident French bulldog called BenBen Cons: * Bed sheets were in dire need of replacement. Multiple holes. * Breakfast was just two bits of toast and a fried egg every day. An option of a small coffee but no tea, juice etc. * Rooms seem quite run down - fairly clean but seemed messy. * Air conditioning was just about working, although only just. All in all, a good budget stay! Check their website, we have since found better prices on there than on Agoda!
The location of the guesthouse was quite central, but still difficult to find at first. The staff were very unaccommodating and often not even at reception. The room was average but alright, with a balcony and wifi. I am quite certain the booking included breakfast, yet all we were offered was a few slices of bread and coffee. We were out all day and literally slept there at night, so the lack of facilities didn't bother us as much. Don't expect anything impressive, just a simple place to sleep.
"Breakfast" consisted of slices of toast (still in the bag) and instant coffee! No tea, no jam, no eggs. It gave the impression that the owner included breakfast into the hotel description to better sell the place than without breakfast. The staff did not care and even insisted on this type of breakfast being "normal" here. However, it is a quiet place and a good location. The room was ok, however the fittings in the bathroom were broken. If you forget about breakfast and don't care about the owner's attitude you can go.
We stayed here five nights in room 402. The room was very spacious. ( could use another piece of furniture or two, maybe a painting) the balcony was nice with a slidong glass door that locked and also a screen door with no holes. A/c was cold, bed was comfy and fridge kept drinks cold. Bathroom was basic but had a shower curtain to keep the whole bathroom from getting wet. Also a big safe and morning sunrise to dry any laundry. Perfect spot close to everything. We were in Chiang Mai three weeks so you get to learn the sois and short cuts around. Less than ten min walk to China town, Tae pae gate, market, two mins to main road 7-11. Really a good choice. A few expats live here and if I moved to Chiang Mai I would consider it. I think 403 is the best room our original pick but we got 402.…
For a guesthouse this one offers good value for money. The beds are lovely, it is fairly quiet and good enough to stay longer time. Sticking out high above other guesthouses on the area. Close to city centre (walking distance).
This beautiful hotel, run by an Chinese family, has a nice atmosphere and is well located. The Sunday night market is a 10/15 minute walk away, the night bazaar is not that far as well. Restaurants and shops are a 5 minute walk away. On the opposite side of the hotel, is another hotel located. This hotel sells tours. We booked 2 tours with them. The price-quality is more than good! The rooms have a nice interior, with balcony and they are clean as well. The beds are fantastic :)
I stayed here for two weeks during a six-week trip to Thailand. Positives: 1) Soft, comfortable bed (which is extremely rare in Thailand!) 2) Off a quiet soi but close to the main road 3) Laundry service around the corner for 30 baht per kg 4) Very kind manager who lives on site 5) Negotiated a rate of 650 baht per night 6) Free wifi although a bit spotty at times Negatives 1) Had to relocate to a couple of different rooms because the air conditioning wasn't working 2) The rooms have sliding glass doors that lead to a patio and most of the doors do not lock. Not that big of a deal because the manager lives on site and there is someone at the front desk 24 hours so I am pretty sure no one will scale the wall to climb into your room 3) The rooms are a little worn down- mold on the walls in some rooms, mismatched furniture 4) No breakfast Overall I enjoyed my stay here. I will stay again when I come back to Chiang Mai. Just hoping the rooms get updated a bit before then!…
We stayed 1 night, then another 3 nights before and after our trip to Chiang Rai. Wanted to stay in a smaller, cheap but clean guesthouse and Elegant Lanna was perfect for our needs. Rooms were large and beds comfortable, included a safe, TV, aircon. Location is good, a little hard to find so print out the directions from the website, or look up on Google, but once you've worked out which laneway it is down, it's quite an easy walk to the old city, walking markets, restaurants, cafes etc. walk out to the moat to get a songthaew to airport, markets, zoo etc.
We stayed at this guesthouse on arrival from Bangkok after a eventful night on the sleeper train. The staff at reception were friendly, the rooms were large, had TV, fridge, a safe, A/C and a balcony. The location was good, just off the main road and within walking distance of lots of bars, restaurants and shops. The wifi was very good. The bathroom was basic but clean, the pillows were pretty uncomfortable but nothing to complain about! If you get a taxi to this guesthouse please make sure you give the driver the address as we have seen at least three guesthouses called Lanna Guesthouse! All in all very reasonable for the money and we would recommend.
We loved our stay here. Our top floor room had a great view. The location is excellent and there is a pedestrian crossing (complete with button to push to change the traffic light) nearby which makes crossing the busy roads easy on your way to the old city. Good restaurants close by and really quiet at night. The room was large and clean. Wifi worked well and many English channels on the TV. I really find it hard to fault this place.
