As a mature single female traveler I was looking for a quieter, low cost hostel with single room that was near the old town. I immediately felt welcomed at Lantern House. Pak, the owner will help you with everything you need and will work with local venders to get a good price for you. She arranged tours, laundry, massages, manicure and invited me on a day trip with her and her friends. She even cooked traditional thai food. She and Tong her assistant were so helpful. I stayed an extra week because I felt so comfortable. I had a single room with small bathroom, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and wifi was great. I would absolutely stay here again.

There are many hostels on the same street as this one, but Lantern House is the best! A very calm environment, clean rooms, comfy beds and the air conditioning works great (a necessity while staying in Chiang Mai for sure). The owner Pak is so friendly and informative, offering to help in any way she can with tour booking or local information and getting you discounts whenever possible. She even cooked a traditional Thai meal one night and invited my partner and I to join, it was delicious! She allowed us to park our rented scooters inside the gate overnight to ensure they stayed safe and free of damage, and even let us store one of our bags with her after checkout while we rode the 5 day Mae Hong Son motorbike loop. Cannot praise Pak or this hostel enough! This is a great and affordable accommodation in Chiang Mai!

Great room for a great price in the perfect location! Pak was amazing giving us recommendations of sights to see around the city (all within walking distance) and booking our trip to the national park and our bus to Pai - she let us leave our things and use the shower facility after checking out too which we really appreciated. Happy the beagle also brought a smile to our faces! Could not fault the hostel and the service!

Had a lovely stay here at The Lantern House. I would highly recommend staying here. The owner was very friendly and always there to help us if we had any questions. All of the facilities were clean and tidy. In the evenings it was nice to have some time to chat to Pak (owner) and she was so lovely. Happy was also amazing too (a beautiful dog!) Walking distance to the markets and to the old town. Thank you so much!

Very nice hostel to stay as a backpacker. Easy to book one or more days trips with the accomodation. The owner also organizes one day trips to waterfalls etc. Highly recommended for backpackers! The prices for the rooms are good. For people who get hot easily, take the aircon room :)

The hostel itself was beautiful and made us feel very very safe as soon as we entered. The lady who ran the hostel was amazing, so helpful, friendly and welcoming as was happy the dog who was always wagging his tail and greeting guests! We would 100% recommend!!

Probably one of the comfiest beds I’ve slept on in Asia. The atmosphere is great and the staff are nothing short of perfect. They can and will help you with anything you could possibly need. Would and will definitely stay here again

Absolutely perfect! Didn't want things to be too loud but the owner Pak found the balance! Had an amazing time during Songkran. So much fun with her cocktails, food and pool! The rooms were excellent and I loved the atmosphere! Couldn't have had a better time! Thank you so much Pak! I will be coming back!

This place is so nice and cozy. The private room had a/c, a really soft bed (best one after 2,5 months in asia), Hot shower and balcony. Pak is an amazing owner and will help you with recommendations, tickets etc. We went to pai for a few data and she let us leave 2 bags with her! Only little downside is that you sometimes can hear your neighbours talk, but not something what would hold me back from booking again.
