We had booked into Backpackers Downtown from the UK and we were really pleased we did. As young minded 49-50 year olds, we wanted a place with a buzz. You certainly get that here! We were due to go onto Halong Bay but it was cancelled due to a typhoon. The hostel threw a big Typhoon Party to commiserate (we...

Reception was small and cluttered. No lighting on stairs. Dinning room was one table under stairs with 6 chairs. Our bedding was stained, we had a single quilt cover for two of us, the towels were thread bare. The bathroom smelled constantly of urine, the shower tap was on the sink and took up most of the sink surface. The toilet seat fell...

The only remotely good thing about this hideous place was the location, which is in the center of the Old Quarter. I put my laptop on the shelf and a giant cockroach scuttled away. The entire place is dirty, dark and smells bad. I would not recommend anyone stay here. For a couple of extra dollars you can get far...

We stayed in Hanoi for a month and spent our last night here to be closer to our bus pick up. Worst choice ever. Their name is very similar to the better hostel nearby, so I confused them. The staff was nice when I went to check if they had a room, the room looked decent at first. BUT after...

I booked a 2-night stay at Hanoi Riverside Inn hotel (address: 9 Hang Mam)... I checked in at 7pm. the manager explained that there was a problem with the air conditioning (broken?!) so he sent me over to his "other hotel" which is a dilapidated, old, dirty Hoan Kiem downtown hostel/GECKO restaurant a few blocks away... (tip: THIS IS A...

When we first turned up we was slightly disconcerted by the fact that downstairs was a cafe that has nothing to do with the hostel. However it wasn't the first place that we've stayed in that has been like this, so we decided to stay anyway considering that we had already paid via agoda ( our mistake for paying up...

We came to this hotel and regret it. A lot. At first the staff was friendly and helpful. After sitting in our room for a few hours, we could hear rats walking in the 'ceiling'. The room had a big black hole behind a painting and in the floor. We checked out: we had to pay for a full night...

I booked a night for 6 days from then after seeing a room i liked. and when we showed up 6 days later they told us that actually this hotel is full so our room is in a different hotel. We had to walk there and were shown 2 rooms both equally disgusting and terrible. When we decided not to...

Hotel was a big disappointment for us. We stayed 3 nights - the last night we could hear a rat scurrying around the room. Also it says breakfast is included however this is a scam. Rather than eat in the 'Gecko' restaurant, which is nice, for the 'free' breakfast you were sent to a small table on the roof and...
