I have stayed at the Hotel Center Point several times during work trips to Dhaka. It is a medium size guesthouse, located close to Gulshan 2 circle, which means it is close to shopping, the business and NGO districts, and several good food options. It is much much cheaper than big hotels like the Westin (it is around $20 - 30 per night), and is an excellent, well-located budget option.

Rooms:
Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The beds are a bit creaky, but comfortable, and the rooms have fans and air conditioners. For a few more taka, you can have a room with a small balcony, which is quite nice in the evenings. The power in Dhaka is very intermittent, but the hotel has a generator which works well. Each room has a TV with good satellite service, and the bathrooms are clean.

Food:
Breakfast is included in the cost and consists of eggs, toast, fruit and fresh pineapple juice, tea and coffee. There is also a Bangla breakfast. There is a wide menu available, and food can be eaten in the restuarant or brought to the room. Certain items on the menu are not always available, but the staff do their best to accommodate you. The food is reasonably tasty, most importantly I have never been sick as a result of eating there.

Service:
Service is friendly and helpful, and quite personalised. Some things can be slow (for example dinner trays are never collected until the next morning) or annoying (4 knocks for housekeeping before 7.30am one morning!) but can easily be sorted out. Laundry service is efficient and low cost.

Facilities:
The hotel has a restaurant, and free internet. Internet is available in room via a cable or wireless - theoretically, mine only worked occasionally. There is a computer in the lobby which can be used for internet for free.

Compared to other guesthouses in which I have stayed in Bangladesh, this is a good clean, friendly, safe option. Plus, unlike the big hotels, it is run and staffed by locals who benefit from the income. Because it is a guesthouse, guests and staff have the opportunity to get to know each other a little, which is a benefit that larger hotels cannot offer.

I've stayed in the hotel in Dec 2013 and Feb 2014. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. However on both occasions there has been very noisy construction works going on opposite the hotel all night which make it impossible to sleep.

I've stayed at Hotel Center Point, dhaka for 2 days (july 3 and 4). The hotel is situated at central part of Gulshan, more safe from sequrity purspose and near to hotel Austin. It is medium size hotel suitable for travellers.

The hotel is in city area that frequent noice of vechile and people can disturb to the person who loves quite place. The breakfast is free of cost. There is 24 hours access of wireless but sometime it does not work. I suggest people to go outside for lunch or dinner who loves indian food. In overall, the hotel is good to stay.

The horrible sewage smell starts from the reception and if the rooms are facing the front, the smell lingers in the balcony, so you cannot sit in the balcony for too long. Then there are cockroaches in the bathroom and bedroom. The bedsheets were not changed, and had blood stains on them. The towels provided were horrible and do need replacing. The staff were all men, and were too attentive to women guests upto a point that it became too intrusive. The price was cheap, but so was the place. Will definitely not stay there again and have advised colleagues to avoid this place.

We stayed for 5-6 days at Hotel Center Point recently. Overall, it was a very good experience, better than I had expected based on other reviews. The hotel is not fancy, but was very comfortable.

The highlight was the staff. They were unfailingly very polite and kind, doing everything in their power to make our stay as pleasant as possible (for example buying fruit from the market, when we asked for fruit with breakfast). The food from the kitchen was very good, we had the biryani, chicken pakora and a number of other dishes several times, which were all prepared well, as was the free breakfast. In addition, the laundry service provided, was also quick and affordable. In addition, the owner, Shafi, was also very helpful and checked in to make sure everything was going well during our stay.

The rooms were very large, and although the mattress thickness varied somewhat (based on the bed), overall the beds were very comfortable, and we slept well each night. The cleaning staff came regularly, and our room was always cleaned well. There was free wifi, but it was intermittently available and depended greatly on where in the room you were sitting.

Lastly, the location was very good in that there was a good deal of shopping nearby within walking distance, and it was easy to get to/from the airport, which can be very difficult with Dhaka traffic.

I would definitely stay here again, if I returned to Dhaka, as the quality received for the price is excellent.

This was undoubtedly one of the worst stays in Bangladesh.

The rooms are old and dilapidated with carpeting which has not been cleaned at all and leaves a smell in the air of mildew and rotting fabric. The furniture and fittings in the room were old and broken down and the bathroom was stained and smelly. This was all in the best room in the hotel apparently!

Mosquitoes are a constant problem and apart from a staff member who will arrive in the evening to spray your room with bug spray, there are no other precautions. The chemical smell of insect repellent cannot mask the smell of decay in the room. It is that bad. The mosquito proof netting in the rooms is old, rusted and torn in several places and in some windows torn out all together. The rooms and hallways are dark and dingy.

The staff is always on the look out for a quick buck and you will be propositioned frequently.

Everything is old in this place and not worth the value of money. Unfortunately I had to stay 10 days in June 2018 and every single day they offered tasteless breakfast. Few choices available for lunch and dinner but most of the options in the menu were out of stock. AC was making a terrible noise. There was a water cut and there was no back up for two days. When the water resumed entire bathroom stink with black colored water flowing from the taps. Another day lift was broken and had to use the stairs for the 5th floor. Management acted as those things are normal. Recommendation is you avoid this place and name as much as possible. There would be hundreds of better places in Dhaka at that price.
